RE: UPDATE re: Shoreline Master Program (SMP) and Geoduck Farming in
Squamish Harbor
STATEMENT OF ISSUE: The Department of Community Development (DCD) will provide
an update about the County's Shoreline Master Program and geoduck farming activity in
Squamish Harbor.
ANALYSIS: Residents of the Shine neighborhood near the Squamish Harbor tidelands have
raised questions about the County permit status and off-site impacts of recent and proposed
geoduck farm plantings which have received a federal permit from the US Corps of Engineers.
DCD Director Patty Charnas and Planning Manager David Greetham will update the County
Commissioners about these issues.
FISCAL IMPACT: None from the briefing.
RECOMMENDATION: Hear the briefing and ask clarifying questions as appropriate.
