Highlights from Monday’s Commissioner Meeting August 16, 2005
PROCLAMATION: The Board
approved a proclamation designating
August 18, 2005 as Election Worker
Recognition Day. At 1:00 p.m. on
Thursday, 179 election workers will be
honored for their hard work that has
enabled Jefferson County voters to
participate at local poll sites for county,
state and national elections through
the years. The time, commitment, and
the contributions they have made have
helped to ensure the success of the
electoral process in the County.
Earlier this year, the Board, at the
request of the County Auditor as the
result of new legislation, adopted a
resolution to institute a county-wide
vote by mail system. Jefferson County
is one of several counties in the State
that have chosen to convert to the
vote by mail system.
PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD: The
following comments were made:
Concerns were expressed about the
money that the County plans to spend
with the City of Port Townsend on a
parks and recreation survey and if it

thanked the County for putting a stop
work order and stop shooting order on
Security Services Northwest activities
last week, and since they didn’t stop,
what does the County plan to do to
enforce these orders?
