Highlights from Monday’s Commissioner Meeting May 2, 2006
PROCLAMATION: A representative
from OlyCAP was present when the
Chair read the proclamation
designating May as Community Action
Month and May 10, 2006 as OlyCAP
Day.
COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR
BRIEFING: The County Administrator
clarified that after the public hearing
last week on the Paradise Bay No
Shooting Zone, the Board directed the
Planning Commission to review and
develop “No Shooting Zone” criteria.
The Board intends to make a decision
on the Paradise Bay No Shooting Zone
after they receive the Planning
Commission’s recommendation. The
review is expected to take
approximately 2 months and the
ordinance may need to be revised
which requires a public hearing. The
Administrator also gave updates on the
work done last week on economic
development and the Port Hadlock
UGA sewer project.
PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD: The
following comments were made:
concerns were expressed that the
Board is not taking immediate action to
decrease County spending because
the fiscal welfare of the County is their
responsibility; and Fred Hill Materials
has always been willing to work with
the County to increase revenues.
CONSENT AGENDA: The following
items on the Consent Agenda were
approved:
2 RESOLUTIONS: 1) Naming a private
road Little Quil Road; Daniel Fischer,
Applicant, and 2) Naming a private road
River Ridge Road; Daniel Fischer,
Applicant
HEARING NOTICE: Proposed Flood
Damage Prevention Ordinance; hearing is
scheduled for Monday, May 15, 2006 at
11:00 a.m. in the Commissioners
Chambers
BID AWARD: Supply of aggregate for
bituminous surface treatment on various
County roadways to Fred Hill Materials
3 AGREEMENTS: 1) 2006 Consolidated
Contract for Health services; amending
the statement of work and allocation with
Washington State Department of Health;
2) Updating and maintaining the
Jefferson County Public Health website
with Gerald Taylor, and; 3) Medical
transcription services with Jackie Aase
FINAL PLAT APPROVAL: Landau Short
Plat; to divide 11.22 acres into 2
residential lots; located off of Martin Road
in Port Ludlow; Charles Landau, Applicant
ADVISORY BOARD ALTERNATE
MEMBER APPOINTMENTS: Tony
Petrillo, representing District No. 2; Hyatt
Barnes representing Recreation; and
Robin Downy representing commercial
interests to the Jefferson County Marine
Resources Committee. Their terms are for
4 years (expiring May 1, 2010.)
WORKSHOP ON E-911 LOCATOR
SYSTEM: The Board met with several
Fire District officials and staff in a
workshop to discuss proposed changes to
the County’s current system.
