Highlights from Monday’s Commissioner Meeting June 6, 2006
COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR BRIEFING: The
County Administrator briefed on the following
items:
•A Certificate of Good Practice for the
Public Works Department was
transmitted to the State Treasurer by
the County Road Administration
Board.
•The Department of Community
Development will receive an award at
the15 GMA anniversary celebration th
for their project, "Supporting
Agriculture While Protecting Fish and
Wildlife Habitat."
DEVELOPMENT AGREEMENT AMEND-
MENT DISCUSSION: DCD and the PLA are
reviewing the possibility of consolidating all
the permits for the Trendwest project under
the requested amendment to the
development agreement. Further review of
the consolidation or a hearing notice will be
discussed on next week’s agenda.
PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD: The following
comments were made: the Commissioners
need to meet with the taxing districts to put all
plans for raising taxes “on the table”; the
County needs to spend money on the meth
problem and not on GMA appeals; dairy
farms have gone out of business because
they are a threat to the environment, but
when the State moves the elk into the
County, they will go where ever they want and
eat whatever they want; it is very difficult to
make a living doing sustainable agriculture in
the County; and someone saw Sheriff’s
Deputies breaking into a citizen’s barn in the
middle of the night without a warrant.
CONSENT AGENDA: The following items
were approved:
2 RESOLUTIONS: 1) Naming a private road
Superior Court; Richard Riddle, Petitioner,
and 2) Hearing notice: Petition for the
formation of a cemetery district in Gardiner;
hearing scheduled for Monday, June 26, 2006
at 10:05 a.m.
MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING: Hoh
River knotweed control with10,000 Years
Institute
AGREEMENTS: 1) To supply aggregate
products for road maintenance bituminous
surface treatment with Fred Hill Materials; 2)
Fossil Creek Stream Stabilization agreement
supplement with DOT; 3) Local Agency Federal
Aid Project Prospectus for emergency repairs to
South Shore Quinault Road with DOT; 4) WRIA
17 meeting facilitation RFP with ECO Resource
Group; 5) Working Capital Advance - Restricted
Reserve with DSHS; 6) Public health education
through twelve 2-hour video program segments
titled The Many Faces of Public Health with
PTTV; 7) Family Support Grant amendment to
increase funding and extend period of
performance with DSHS; 8) Workfirst Program
amendment to extend period of performance
with DSHS; 9) Onsite sewage system
monitoring and testing amendment to allow
purchase of necessary monitoring equipment
and materials with Puget Sound Action Team;
10) 2006 Consolidated Contract for health
services; deliverable date changes only with
DOH; and, 11) 911 Dispatch network repair with
Horizon Computer Systems
FINAL PLAT APPROVAL: #SUB05-00032; To
divide 43.61 acres into 2 residential lots located
at 735 N. Sandy Shore Road in Chimacum;
Roger L. Hauf, Applicant
BUDGET HEARING: The Board approved the
second quarter budget appropriation/extension
requests for various County departments.
HEARING NOTICE ON UDC OMNIBUS: The
Board approved a hearing notice for proposed
Unified Development Code amendments. The
hearing is scheduled on June 19 at 10:05 a.m.th
NO SHOOTING ZONE UPDATE: After review,
the Planning Commission suggested revisions
to the No Shooting Zone ordinance and that a
No Shooting Zone Review Committee be
formed. The County Administrator will work
with DCD and come back to the Board with a
specific recommendation on how to proceed.
