A citizens stakeholder committee will be formed as
the process moves forward.
DRAFT INSTREAM FLOW RULE: The State
DOE’s final draft rule will be available at the end of
February and there will be a six month comment
period. Key points are: preservation of stream
flows for fish stocks by setting a water right for the
stream, setting groundwater reserves for future
use, and setting a new conservation standard
which is 500 gallons a day maximum. This will
affect the Chimacum, Salmon, Snow, and Little
Quilcene water basins. There was a brief
discussion about several possible mitigation
measures that the County is looking at that will aid
landowners. There was also a discussion about
the need to preserve water in the Chimacum basin
for agriculture.
