Highlights from Monday’s Commissioner Meeting October 18, 2011
PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD: The following
comments were made by citizens in
attendance at the meeting and reflect their
personal opinions:
•A citizen commented on the Jefferson
County Planning Commission.
•A citizen commented on increasing jobs in
Jefferson County and the U.S. economy in
general.
•A citizen requested information on the topic
of the shooting range at Dabob Bay and
why a travel receipt was sent to Kitsap
County. It was later determined that Kitsap
County paid for the service and therefore
needed the receipt for their records.
•A citizen requested that the BOCC correct
their records on State Senate Bill 5451.
•A citizen commented on the positive results
that corporations bring to the public, and
also their attendance at the JeffCom
meeting with the City of Port Townsend.
CONSENT AGENDA: The Board approved
the items on the consent agenda as
presented:
RESOLUTION NO. 47-11: Adopting the Cost
Allocation Plan for Fiscal Years 2011 and
2012.
3 AGREEMENTS: 1) Inter-local Family and
Juvenile Court Improvement Plan; Jefferson
County Juvenile Services; Administrative
Office for the Courts; 2) Evidence Based
Expansion Program; Jefferson County
Juvenile Services; Washington State
Department of Social and Health Services
(DSHS), Juvenile Rehabilitation
Administration (JRA); 3) Coordinated
Prevention Grant Education, Amendment No.
4; Jefferson County Public Health;
Washington State Department of Ecology
(DOE).
Payment of Jefferson County Warrants:
Dated October 10, 2011 Totaling $896,388.58
Payment of Jefferson County Payroll
Warrants: Dated October 5, 2011 Totaling
$660,853.53
COMMISSIONERS BRIEFING SESSION:
The Commissioners each provided updates
on the following items:
Chairman Austin reported that he attended
the State Board of Health meeting in
Olympia, and welcomed the incoming new
director Michelle Davis. He also
volunteered his time at radio station KPTC
this past weekend, and will be attending the
Tourism Conference on October 19th.
Commissioner Sullivan reported that he
attended the Grange meeting for the
Voluntary Stewardship Program, Al
Lathem’s retirement party, and has a
pending conference call with the Peninsula
Development District Health Board.
Commissioner Johnson reported that he
attended the Ellensburg Legislative Steering
Committee, and that he is meeting with Fish
& Wildlife, North Olympic Salmon Coalition.
He will also attend the Tourism Conference.
Hearing re: Draft Climate Action Plan. The
Board was briefed by Dr. Kees Kolff.
Public comment on the Plan was also
heard.
Presentation re: 1 1/10 of 1% Mental
Health Chemical Dependency Fund. The
Board was briefed by department and
committee staff on 2011 and 2012 funding
and outcomes.
Letter of Support: The Board approved a
motion by Chairman Austin to send a
condolence letter to the family of Nancy
Johnson, former principal and
superintendent of the Brinnon School
District.
