Public Comment Period: The following is a summary
of comments made by citizens in attendance at the
meeting and reflect their personal opinions:
• A citizen spoke regarding a substitute bill
presented by Representative Tharinger that
would allow a County to approve a tax
increase by ordinance and not by a vote of
the public; and
• Three citizens spoke regarding the Jefferson
County Shoreline Master Program.
CONSENT AGENDA: The Board unanimously approved

COMMISSIONERS BRIEFING SESSION: The
Commissioners each provided updates on the
following items:
Chairman Austin will attend a Washington Tourism
Authority event this week.
Commissioner Johnson is scheduled to attend an
Olympic Regional Clean Air Agency (ORCAA), Hood
Canal Coordinating Council (HCCC) meeting and a Port
Townsend City and Jefferson County staff meeting
regarding the planning of a Metropolitan Parks District
(MPD).
Commissioner Sullivan attended an event regarding
the Nordland Post office and spoke about federal
funding for Olympic Area Agency on Aging (O3A).
Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission’s
Centennial Proclamation: After reading the
proclamation proclaiming recognition of the
significance of Washington State Parks and Recreation
Commission’s Centennial, the Board unanimously
approved the proclamation.
Bid Opening: Two bids were opened and read aloud
for the publication of County Legal Notices. The Clerk
of the Board will review the bids and submit a
recommendation for bid award to the Board at a
future date.
Shoreline Master Program: The Board and staff of
Department of Community Development discussed in-
water finfish aquaculture provisions.
Letter of Request: The Board approved a letter to the
Washington State Utilities and Transportation
Commission requesting funding to remedy the
problems regarding internet services in South
Jefferson County.
Comment Letter: The Board approved a letter to
Senator James Hargrove commenting on the potential
impact of approving SBB 5296.
