Public Comment Period: The following is a summary
of comments made by citizens in attendance at the
meeting and reflect their personal opinions:
• A citizen commented on the rising rates of
children born with Autism.

COMMISSIONERS BRIEFING SESSION: The
Commissioners each provided updates on the
following items:
Chairman Austin attended a dinner honoring John
Bolton and will attend a Change of Command
Ceremony for Indian Island and JPREP meeting this
week.
Commissioner Johnson attended a Hood Canal
Coordinating Council (HCCC) meeting, a dinner
honoring John Bolton, a Legislative Steering
Committee meeting and a Metropolitan Park Steering
Committee meeting.
Commissioner Sullivan spoke regarding transportation
funding issues.
Proclamation: After reading the proclamation aloud,
the Board unanimously approved a proclamation
proclaiming April, 2013 as Child Abuse Prevention
Month.
Community Development 2012 Annual Report:
Department of Community Development (DCD)
Director Carl Smith presented a power point
presentation summarizing the work of staff at DCD.
HEARING: Community Development Block
Grant (CDBG) Application; 2013 Public Service
Grant and Close Out of the 2012 Public Service
Grant; Olympic Community Action Programs
(OlyCAP): No members of the public offered
testimony. After discussion of the grant and Olympic
Community Action Programs (OlyCAP), the Board
approved a resolution for the Certification of
Compliance for CDBG Public Services Grant.
Presentation: Public Health Director Jean Baldwin
presented a summary report of the 1/10th of 1%
Mental Health Sales Tax Committee 2012.
Hearing Notice: Shoreline Master Program (SMP):
The Board approved a hearing notice for the Shoreline
Master Program Finfish Aquaculture. The hearing is
scheduled for Monday, April 15, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. in
the Superior Court Room, Jefferson County
Courthouse.
