HomeMy WebLinkAbout05-07-13 PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD: The following is a summary of comments made by citizens in attendance at the meeting and reflect their personal opinions: • A citizen commented on upcoming community events in the Quilcene area; Brinnon Shrimp Fest, Linger Longer music fundraisers; and the Garden Club will be holding a plant sale Memorial Day • A citizen stated: 1) The Metropolitan Parks District (MPD) proposal isn’t going to work; 2) The County should take aggressive actions towards pesticides; 3) Kenworth Trucking is named after Quilcene resident Ken Worthington; and 4) The County should recruit high end manufacturing companies. • A citizen voiced his concern regarding the County’s plan to put a free parking lot in the State park. • A citizen requested that the Noxious Weed Board advertise and hold a public meeting before spraying chemicals. • A citizen stated he believes there’s a discrepancy with available records, and is unhappy with the response to his records request. CONSENT AGENDA: The Board unanimously approved the items on the consent agenda as presented: 2 RESOLUTIONS: 1) Creating a County Project Designated as Center Road Overlay Phase 5; and 2) Creating a County Project Designated as Center Road Overlay Phase 6 3 AGREEMENTS: 1) Alder and Spruce Creek Tributary Culvert Replacements; with Tetra Tech Inc. 2) Amendment No. 1 to Washington State Aggression Replacement Training, with DSHS; and 202; City of Port Townsend, and 3) Public Infrastructure Funding; Fort Worden Building Advisory Board Appointment - Jefferson County Noxious Weed Control Board; Robert Hoyle Payment of Jefferson County Vouchers/Warrants Dated April 22, 2013 Totaling $602,398.85 and Dated April 26, 2013 Totaling $2,348.54 Payment of Jefferson County Payroll Warrants Dated April 19, 2013 Totaling $74,031.65 and A/P Warrants Done by Payroll Dated April 6, 2013 Totaling $102,728.37 and Dated April 19, 2013 Totaling $15,753.95 COMMISSIONERS BRIEFING SESSION: The Commissioners each provided updates on the following items: Chairman Austin - Reported that he attended a Community Coordinated Response Team (CCRT) meeting where he listened to a presentation on Elder Abuse. - Will be on the canvassing board for recent elections. Commissioner Johnson - Has been invited to Vancouver, WA by the Washington Trust for Historic Preservation and Archaeology, to speak about the local Rose Theatre. - Will be travelling to Olympia this week for Olympic Region of Clean Air (ORCA) and hopes to be able to speak to Senator Hargrove about a grant for the Worthington House in Quilcene. Commissioner Sullivan - Commented that the Resource Conservation and Development Council represents Jefferson and Clallam counties and is currently in the process of applying for a grant to make local farm produce available to local schools. - The Peninsula Development District received a proposal for new annual dues. PROCLAMATION – The Commissioners read and approved a Proclamation proclaiming May 13-18, 2013 as National Police Week and Observe May 15, 2013 as Peace Officer’s Memorial Day. ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL (EDC) TEAM JEFFERSON PRESENTATION – Team Jefferson reviewed the objectives of their group’s strategic plan and how they’re carrying out their goals. The Board approved a motion to authorize the EDC as the Associate Development Organization (ADO) for the County. Board’s Official Business Highlights from Monday’s Commissioner Meeting May 7, 2013
