PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD: The following is a summary
of comments made by citizens in attendance at the
meeting and reflect their personal opinions:
• A citizen commented that relocating animals to
other areas is not beneficial to the animals.
• A citizen stated that Jefferson County Department
of Community Development staff did a well
researched report.
• A citizen voiced his concern the Commissioners’
use of personal cell phones for County Business.
He submitted a public records request because he
believed they are making decisions without going
through the proper steps.
• A citizen commented on the previous public
comment stating their allegations were based on
speculations and they needed to review the
records already provided to them.
CONSENT AGENDA: The Board unanimously approved the
items on the consent agenda as presented:
4 AGREEMENTS: 1) Jefferson County Toxic Cyanobactieria
Project; Washington State Department of Ecology;
2) Substance Abuse Prevention; Washington State
Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS), Division
of Behavioral Health and Recovery; 3) Memorial Field
Drainage Improvements; Seton Construction; and 4)
Coordinated Prevention Grant Program for Solid Waste
Management Plans and Programs; Washington State
Department of Ecology (DOE).
Advisory Board Appointment: Climate Action Committee
(CAC); Citizen at Large Representative; Cynthia Jayne
Advisory Board Reappointment: Jefferson County
Developmental Disabilities (DD) Advisory Board; Kim
Rafferty
Payment of Jefferson County Vouchers/Warrants Dated
May 1, 2013 Totaling $55,923.16
Payment of Jefferson County Payroll Warrants Dated May
3, 2013 Totaling $772,095.90 and A/P Warrants Done by
Payroll Dated May 3, 2013 Totaling $674,041.42
COMMISSIONERS BRIEFING SESSION: The Commissioners
each provided updates on the following items:
Chairman Austin
- Attended the Hargrove Committee Meeting and was
impressed with the speakers.
- Attended a Community Input Meeting in Brinnon.
Commissioner Johnson
- Attended an Olympic Regional Clean Air Committee
meeting.
- Spoke with Senator Hargrove regarding the needs of
Jefferson County.
- Will be attending a Leoff 1 meeting this week.
- Will attend the Public Health Board meeting this week.
- Attended a Community Input Meeting in Brinnon.
Commissioner Sullivan
- Attended the Hargrove Committee Meeting and spoke
of possible funding issues in the future.
- Attended a Community Input Meeting in Brinnon.
PRESENTATION: The Commissioners listened to a
presentation by the Department of Community
Development (DCD) staff regarding the proposed
amendments to the Port Ludlow Development Agreement
and Memorandum of Understanding. The Board approved
a Resolution and 2 Agreements amending the Port Ludlow
Development Agreement. The Board also directed the
DCD staff to draft a letter to the Washington State
Department of Ecology requesting assistance in the
cleanup of contaminated soil in Port Ludlow.
