HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-22-14PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD: The following is a summary of comments made by citizens in attendance at the meeting and reflect their personal opinions:  5 citizens urged the Board to research and hold a public hearing regarding the Navy’s proposed military training grounds in certain areas of nearby forested lands. Concerns regarding environmental impact were discussed;  A citizen stated: 1) Arrow Lumber in Port Townsend is donating hundreds of pounds of turkey and potatoes to our community. Their building permit took too long; 2) The County will lose good people if they are unable to obtain high paying jobs and make a living here; and  A citizen stated she is a former member of the Jefferson County Parks and Recreation Advisory Board and recommended Doug Huber’s appointment to that board. BRIEFING re: Sign Code: Community Development Director Carl Smith briefed the Board on the Sign Code update. LETTER: The Board approved sending a letter of appreciation to Washington Department of Natural Resources (DNR) re: Devil’s Lake Natural Area Addition. CONSENT AGENDA: The Board unanimously approved the items on the consent agenda as presented: 6 AGREEMENTS: 1) NO. 1363-90011, Amendment No. 1 re: Partnerships for Success; Washington State Department of Social and Health Services; 2) Collective Bargaining Agreement for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Uniformed Support Services Employees; Fraternal Order of Police (FOP); 3) Provide Law Enforcement Services; Hoh Indian Tribe; 4) Change Order No. 1 re: Snow Creek Road, M.P. 3.78 Culvert Replacement, FHWA No. DTFH70-11-E-00039, County Project No. CR1899; Seton Construction; 5) NO. IAA 15-50 re: Urban Community Forestry Program; Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR); and 6) Host Small Works, Consultant, and Vendor Rosters; Municipal Research and Services Center (MRSC) Advisory Board Reappointment re: Gardiner Community Center Advisory Board; Three (3) Year Term Expires October 20, 2017; Steven Durupt, President Advisory Board Appointments (3); Jefferson County Parks and Recreation Advisory Board; Terms Expire October 13, 2016; 1) District #1 Representative, Tim Thomas; 2) District #2 Representative, Evan Dobrowski; and 3) District #3 Representative, Douglas Huber Payment of Jefferson County Vouchers/Warrants Dated October 13, 2014 Totaling $1,015,241.35 COMMISSIONERS BRIEFING SESSION: The Commissioners provided updates on the following items. (Commissioner Johnson was absent the previous week): Chairman Austin - Reported the local Board of Health appointed 3 new members to the Substance Abuse Advisory Board (SAAB) last week. - Attended a Hood Canal Coordinating Council (HCCC) meeting last week. There will be a study re: the Hood Canal Floating Bridge and effects on migrating salmon. - Noted that Clallam County Commissioner Mike Doherty received a lifetime achievement award from the Clallam County Democrats which is much deserved. Commissioner Sullivan - Attended a Maritime meeting last week where Congressman Derek Kilmer discussed the Maritime Heritage Bill.
