PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD: The following is a summary of
comments made by citizens in attendance at the meeting and
reflect their personal opinions:
• One citizen voiced concern over the Quilcene Traffic Safety
project and stated that Quilcene residents will be holding a
meeting on September 10, 2015 regarding this issue;
• A citizen would like to see the Wastewater Management
project for Quilcene move forward;
• A citizen stated: 1) Nearby waterways are much warmer; 2)
Presidential candidate Donald Trump is better than other
Republican candidates; 3) Jefferson County needs 1,000 more
jobs; and 4) This County does not try to help businesses;
• A citizen stated: 1) Jefferson County should copy and adopt
Clallam County’s recent Fireworks Ordinance; 2) The proposed
Animal Responsibility Code should be adopted as soon as
possible; and 3) Recordings of the Board of County
Commissioners (BOCC) meetings should be online; and
• A citizen stated: 1) Public restrooms are important to Quilcene
due to high traffic from Highway 101; 2) Jefferson County’s
economy is improving and is very friendly to businesses; and
3) August 23, 2015 is the All County Emergency Preparedness
Picnic at HJ Carroll Park. He added that the organizers of the
picnic could be more open to candidates attending.
CONSENT AGENDA: The Board unanimously approved the items
on the consent agenda as presented:
5 AGREEMENTS: 1) Support of Family and Juvenile Court
Improvement Plan (FJCIP); Washington State Administrative
Office of the Courts; 2) Amendment No. 1 re: 2015
Supplemental Hotel Motel Grant Funding; Six (6) Agreements:
a) Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce; b) Jefferson
County Historical Society; c) Jefferson County Historical Society
Gateway Visitor Center; d) North Hood Canal Chamber of
Commerce; e) Quilcene Historical Museum; f) Tourism
Coordinating Council; 3) Perform Water Quality Monitoring
Activities, Public Outreach and Education in the Hood Canal
Priority Basins Project; Jefferson County Conservation District;
4) Chemical Dependency Prevention; Washington State
Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS), Division of
Behavioral Health and Recovery; and 5) Developmental
Disabilities Administration Services; Washington State

COMMISSIONERS BRIEFING SESSION: The Commissioners
reported on their meeting schedules.
LETTER: The Board approved sending a letter to Governor
Inslee re: Wahkiakum County’s request to seek legislative
action to improve the safe application of biosolids to protect
environmental health and public safety.
BRIEFING: Department of Community Development Director
Carl Smith reviewed proposed amendments to the County-
Wide Planning Policies. Further review of the proposed
amendments is scheduled to take place in the afternoon on
Monday, August 24, 2015.
COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR BRIEFING SESSION TOPICS:
The Board discussed the following topics: Calendar
Coordination, Miscellaneous, and Future Agenda items.
