COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR BRIEFING SESSION TOPICS: The Board discussed the following topics: Calendar Coordination, Miscellaneous items, and Future Agenda items. The Weed Control Board’s tasks are to provide outreach education, survey for noxious weeds, coordinate weed control work, and assist in weed control when feasible, all in an effort to preserve the integrity of our county’s cultivated and natural lands. Controlling noxious weeds is a key part of that equation; through weed control and revegetation we not only increase the economic value of the land, but also its health and resilience. We plan to use this integrated approach to help landowners develop long term management plans. The Noxious Weed Control Board has scheduled a special meeting to hold a public hearing in the Marina Room of the Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife offices at 375 Hudson Street, Port Townsend, on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. The purpose of the hearing is to review public testimony regarding land classification prior to levying an assessment on land in Jefferson County for the control of noxious weeds.
