PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD: The following is a summary of
comments made by individuals in attendance at the meeting
and reflect their personal opinions:
• An individual: 1) Stated the flags in the Commissioners’
Chambers are not in the correct order; and 2) Urged the
County to give authority to Animal Shelter employees and the
Parks and Recreation Manager so they can issue citations
regarding violations of the Animal Responsibility Code;
• An individual commented on chemicals in our environment
and gave various examples of how they can affect our bodies;
• An individual: 1) Thanked the County for addressing the
geoduck harvesting issue expeditiously; and 2) Stated that the
Pit-to-Pier project is still alive and questioned why; and
• An individual welcomed the quad-plex apartment complex
that recently moved into Port Townsend and urged the
County to support all efforts that address our housing
challenge.
CONSENT AGENDA: The Board approved the following items
as presented:
RESOLUTION NO. 22-17 re: Continuing Relationship with the
Washington Counties Risk Pool (WCRP) and the Related

CALL FOR BIDS re: Quilcene Solid Waste Drop Box Site –
Improvements, Project No. 401 594 1984; Bids Accepted
Until 9:30 a.m. and Opened and Read Publicly at 10:00 a.m.,
or Shortly Thereafter on Monday, June 5, 2017 in the
Commissioners’ Chambers; Jefferson County Courthouse

COMMISSIONERS’ BRIEFING SESSION: The Commissioners
reported on their recent meetings and shared their
upcoming meeting schedules.
DISCUSSION and APPROVAL: Environmental Health staff
briefed the Board on two properties the Conservation
Futures program is seeking to purchase along the Big
Quilcene Floodplain. After the briefing, the Board approved
the Authorization and Concurrence for the purchase of the
Gallagher and Holt Properties on the Big Quilcene
Floodplain. The Board also agreed that all attempts be made
to relocate a house on the Gallagher property.
DISCUSSION: Environmental Health staff and Stewardship
Director of the Jefferson Land Trust (JLT) briefed the Board
on JLT’s request to remove Jefferson County, grantee, from
the Dairy Agriculture Conservation Easement and Resource
and Conservation Office (RCO) sponsorship obligations.
County staff will review this request with legal counsel.
COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR BRIEFING: The Board discussed
various topics with the County Administrator.
MEETING CANCELLATION: The Board cancelled the July 3,
2017 Board of County Commissioners’ meeting.
