None of these uses require total surround 8 foot fencing and 24/7 lighting. The science on marijuana is incomplete at best in its effects on human beings. What knowledge does the county have about the long term effects of large scale marijuana grows in moderately developed mixed use rural areas over the long haul? Looking at the micro economy of Marrowstone and the emerging economy of Jefferson County- how many marijuana grows make sense? What criterion is in place to help determine siting? What vetting is done on those who are investing in the product, managing the production and involved in its shipment and marketing. (The proposed grow on the south end of the island was put in process by a party who seemed to have no awareness or concern for even the most basic issues of land use and neighborhood.) Marrowstone is a unique sub community of the county-with citizens deeply dedicated to creating and maintaining a sustainable, mutually respectful, supportive and collaborative life together. Such an effort is not easy, but one worthy of encouragement. In the long run the county will be far stronger for being a quilt of distinct, flourishing neighborhoods literally rooted in healthy land use. While the state of WA legalized marijuana, it does not follow that an economically, socially healthy county community is enhanced by cultivating this commodity. This is a small community and it should stay that way. The property tax structure is such that inserting a commercial venture may increase our already high taxes as compared to other districts within the county At the same time, we may lose valuation of our properties. There are many other places county wide that would be more suitable for this type on operation. Most (if not all) of us were not made aware of this operation until reading about it in last Wednesday's PT Leader or on our Marrowstone Island net on the days following. I with other of my neighbors have concerns about the size of this operation and it's effects on our island and the environment, as we were a few years ago when we attended meetings when a similar operation was proposed for Gybe Ho Rd. I would also like to express my concerns about what seems to me and others here as a surreptitious introduction of this enterprise. Please respond and help us to get a hearing to be able to voice our concerns and to get some answers. i .., -- D3C2.1 I 11. 24 2017 ,„ 0 JEFFERSON r% uMTYDed Kate Deslauriers 430 Meade Rd Nordland 360-385-9521 Kate@kayaker.net C---1 LOG ITEM Patrick Hopper From: Craig Rennebohm <wcrenne@comcast.net> Sent: Monday, April 24, 2017 6:17 PM (--,--- ---.H To: Patrick Hopper Subject: Marijuana Grow on Marrowstone Island Hello Patrick, I am a am island resident opposed to the newly proposed marijuana grow. This is not an agricultural use envisioned by any of us when we purchased property here.Turkeys, strawberries, chickens, goats, cows, horses-traditional farm crops and animals were quite expected when we signed off on understanding that this was a rural ag area.
