Please stop it from happening. Like other residents of Marrowstone, I appreciate the rural and unique atmosphere that we enjoy on the island. In order to preserve this wonderful quality of life, in the 1970's island residents formed the Marrowstone Island Citizens Planning Committee and worked with the Jefferson County Planning Department to develop the Marrowstone Island Community Development Plan. This plan was approved by the Jefferson County Commissioners in 1978. I am attaching the first and last pages of the plan and pages 17 and 18 which pertain to "Commerce and Industry." The proposed Marijuana Production and Process business clearly violates the first four policy criteria listed on page 18. I request that there be a public hearing about this. We strongly appose the Marijuana industry that is being considered to engulf this pristine island. Numerous people have stated the reasons for not allowing an industry of this magnitude. We agree with them as we hope you will as well or at least consider all our valued comments. If you allow this type of industry now...where will it stop for others coming to the island. This industry is not fitting to the island. Please help us to keep Marrowstone Island true to our culture,to keep us rural,to keep the island pristine. Please protect us from outside sources to change we Islanders and the land we cherish. There is a comprehension plan for the island. Years ago when an issue was presented to the commissioners, we were told the plan was never ratified. It was only a plan to consider as we were told. We still believe in this plan as I see others do as well. Please consider. People live here because we value our way of life the island offers.
