Pat,
Can you tell me if the building permit has been approved for Mr Austin's processing plant on
Marrowstone Island?
Yesterday Flagler road was mostly blocked for half the day as they unloaded a huge semi of
building materials.
I had thought that the county was to hold a public hearing on the project based on the following
concerns:
• Project does not meet the definition of"cottage industry ordinance" in that owners are to
live on the property, which is at odds with the rules governing a processing plant per the
Liquor and Marijuana ordinance.
• Reports based on violations issued to the Silverdale plant(whose license Austin Smith
bought) showed neighbor's complaints of helicopter flights overhead.
1
• The giant axial fans that have been delivered have a noise parameter of greater than 120
decibels, which will adversely affect the neighbors.
• Smitty's RV park has at least one permanent resident family with children—this is a
prohibited condition for Marijuana plant location.
While my neighbors and I are not adverse to pot plant processing per se, we feel that the scale of
this operation would be better suited to a more industrial area of the county, such as vacant land
near the airport.
We fear that Mr Smith feels he can slip this by the county by hiring Kevin from your agency to
make it happen—seemingly an obvious conflict of interest.
