Share air time and encourage all members to participate Draft Meeting Notes June 14, 2017 4:00 to 5:00pm Jefferson County Library THE CHIMACUM PREVENTION COALITION June 14, 2017 MEETING JEFFERSON COUNTY LIBRARY, 620 Cedar Avenue, Port Hadlock. Purpose of the meeting: Update: strategic plan revision, HS prevention club member presentation, cultural competency activity. Facilitators for this meeting: Denise Banker Members Present: Kris Becker, Chris HoffmanHill, Ciela Meyer, Ron McClung, Idolina Cervantes, Denise Banker Members Excused: Tanya Barnett, David Sullivan, Brian MacKenzie, Richard Davies, Teresa Shiraishi, Lyndsey Kellum, Bob Wicks, Pinkie Feria Mingo Time/Facilitator Activity  4:00 Denise Call meeting to order; Review agenda. Kris Becker moved to approve the agenda; agenda approval seconded by Ciela Meyer; agenda approved by a voice vote.  4:05 Approve minutes: Kris Becker moved. Seconded by Chris HoffmanHill; minutes approved by voice vote. Denise updated the group on the Strategic Plan’s status: the plan has been submitted to Lisa Stewart, DBHR Systems Manager. After Lisa edits, Denise will present to coalition for their suggestions.  4:05 – 5:00 Idolina Cervantes introduced her Senior Project, for which Ciela Meyer was a mentor. The project comprised a series of interviews with adults who have been impacted by their own or a loved one’s drug addiction. Coalition members were impressed by Idolina’s level of empathy and her composure. Activity: Cultural Competency: Identity / Expression Activity: Denise led coalition members in an activity meant to bolster and deepen participants awareness of the impacts of externally imposed identity suppression.   4:05 – 5:00 Idolina Cervantes introduced her Senior Project, for which Ciela Meyer was a mentor. If you or anyone you know wants to be involved in supporting students in their effort to avoid alcohol and other drugs, please join us. ALCOHOL AND OTHER DRUG PREVENTION IS GOOD WORK.
