THE CHIMACUM PREVENTION COALITION June 14, 2017 MEETING
JEFFERSON COUNTY LIBRARY, 620 Cedar Avenue, Port Hadlock.
Purpose of the meeting: Update: strategic plan revision, HS prevention club member presentation, cultural competency activity.

Call meeting to order; Review agenda. Kris Becker moved to approve the agenda; agenda approval seconded by Ciela Meyer; agenda approved by a voice vote.

Approve minutes: Kris Becker moved. Seconded by Chris HoffmanHill; minutes approved by voice vote.
Denise updated the group on the Strategic Plan’s status: the plan has been submitted to Lisa Stewart, DBHR Systems Manager. After Lisa edits, Denise will present to coalition for their
suggestions.
4:05 – 5:00
Idolina Cervantes introduced her Senior Project, for which Ciela Meyer was a mentor. The project comprised a series of interviews with adults who have been impacted by their own or
a loved one’s drug addiction. Coalition members were impressed by Idolina’s level of empathy and her composure.
Activity: Cultural Competency: Identity / Expression Activity: Denise led coalition members in an activity meant to bolster and deepen participants awareness of the impacts of externally
imposed identity suppression.
