Share air time and encourage all members to participate DRAFT MINUTES October 12, 2016 4:00 to 5:00pm Chimacum High School Library Purpose of the meeting: Elect new Executive Committee; Take Coalition Survey; Updates on actions taken: Environmental: Policy + Green Card concern, Vacant gas station and county sign codes, Positive messaging poster; Community Survey status report; Prevention Club – CANS and Positive Messaging Banner; Town-hall presentations plan; SFP schedule. Facilitators for this meeting: Ron McClung, Denise Banker Present: Cynthia Koan, Sarah Zale (Gun Safety), Lyndsey Kellum, Vickie MacKenzie (ESD, Marijuana), Ciela Meyer, Sylvia Zimmerman-Blikas “Start with the end in mind.” Steven Covey Time/Facilitator Activity 4:08 Ron Call meeting to order; Introduction of those present. Minutes approved by: Lyndsey Second by: Silvia Postpone nominations of new officers due to small group. 4:15 Ron & Denise (10 minutes) Update on Environmental Policy. Share handout of policy with Green Card language added. Ask for input / edits. No motion to Approve until we have a chance to run it by Whitney and Brian. 4:35 Sylvia Environmental, Positive Messaging Banner Project: Use the corner as a non-substance corner with messages. Need to contact the owner of corner gas station. Philip Govelzeng is owner of the Farm Stand and is in communication with Bill’s gas station. Sylvia or Denise will contact Mr. Govelzeng. David Sullivan needs to give us codes in Co. on signs. PreventNow.org also has good resources. 4:45 Sylvia Environmental: Report on status of poster. Handed out samples of posters to get people to fill out surveys. And Bumper sticker ideas. 4:50 Denise Update on survey: Denise has put a link on a number of web pages and created some handouts. 59 responses so far, need 180 by end of year. 4:55 Denise Update on contacting business owners – Foursquare, Herbal Access, Canna Copia, Chimacum Cannabis Co.Denise went to all the Marijuana stores in the area. (Still wants to visit Chevron/Liquor Store.) The owners/managers were very welcoming, concerned about keeping youth from marijuana use. Denise invited Cody from The Chimacum Cannabis Company and others to come to our meetings. Denise will keep them informed about meetings. 5:00 Denise Report on status of Facebook Page: (Permission to post) Denise has a meeting with Philip Morley to talk about CPC having a Facebook Page. Other gov. groups who have Facebook Pages have sent Denise the laws, which she can pass on to the County officials. 5:10 Ciela Prevention Club: 6-8 members coming. Prevention Club wants to do a CANS project. One student wants to do a video (Idolina Cervantes) and wants to come and talk to our Coalition. One other student would like to come to our meetings, but needs transportation. 5:15 Adjourn Planning November meeting: Idolina Cervantes presentation; Review of Community Needs Assessment Data, Report on grant funds for Town-hall Speakers. Brainstorm who we might invite. (3-5 events) And SFP schedule, Ideas for actively engaging prevention club: How can we support youth in an effort to remove barriers to academic success? Ideas?
