Comm. election; Members Notebooks with the DBHR Data Book; Community Survey; CPC Member Coalition Assessment; Environmental Committee, CPC social media, Parenting Wisely, SFP, PY/PM and Project Toward No Drug Abuse Facilitators for this meeting: Denise Banker, Johnny Colden Present: Johnny Colden, Bob Wicks, Silvia Zimmer-Blikas, Brian MacKenzie, Lindsey Kellan, David Sullivan, Ciela Meyer, Ron McClung, Teresa Shiraishi, Cammy Brown, Tonya Barnett “Start with the end in mind.” Steven Covey Time/Facilitator Activity 4:00 Denise Banker Info: Welcome, introductions & check in 4:10 Johnny /Denise Action: Review/Approved previous minutes, Bob Wicks motion, seconded by Ciela 4:06 Johnny Public comments or questions from the floor: Teresa had an announcement: she will be hosting community meetings focusing on domestic violence this year. 4:15 Dr Denise Banker Introduction – Denise Banker, CPWI Coordinator, briefly introduced herself. A former college professor, her professional background includes high school / middle school teaching; second-generation small business ownership; publicity and marketing for Copper Canyon Press; service to “Recovery Café” as a minister of presence, and writing workshop facilitator; administrative service for Jefferson County Public Health. She is taking classes and studying to become a certified Prevention Specialist, a DBHR requirement for this position. Her personal and professional interests in the need for prevention leadership led her to apply for this promotion within the County. 4:21 Denise Discussion of tasks and the timeline for CPC activities for the 2016-2017 school year: The Community Survey will be sent out in Sept. and members are encouraged to send them to their e-mail lists. OCTOBER: Direct Service, SFP fall class hasn’t been scheduled. Denise and Tanya will plan, schedule, implement the course in February. Parenting Wisely online class: Denise will meet with Johnny, Tanya, Teresa, and Yuko Umeda (NFP) to discuss ways to get parents to sign up and complete the modules. Ciela may also be able to direct parents to the program. As well, the on-line communication, resiliency program is beneficial to all parents – not just identified groups. October meeting: Elect new Executive Committee; Updates on actions taken: Environmental: Green Card in school vs. St. and Fed. law, Policy + Green Card concern, Vacant gas station and county sign codes, Positive messaging poster; Survey status report; Prevention Club – CANS and Positive Messaging Banner; Town-hall presentations; SEP schedule. 4:35 Denise Fall activities – Community Survey: Handouts were given to members with possible language to use when sending out to e- mail to lists. We are trying to get as many surveys done as possible (need 180 done by Dec.) Ciela suggested using the CHS Facebook page. Used in all the communities to find out perceptions of what is going on. Cammy will bring it up with Jessie Michels to send out to all parents in CSD. Denise will send to Chimacum News FB page and talk to Whitney about Chimacum High School FB page. 4:45 Denise Updates from Environmental Committee: We will meet in September to discuss changes to policy; and will report and ask for a motion to approve at the October meeting. Ciela wanted to make sure we are aware of “green cards” to use medical marijuana. Ron, Cammy, and Denise will address this in the policy. CPC social media – Denise will work with County so we can use this as a tool. Project Toward No Drug Abuse: we need more information on this. PY/PM is in revision at MADD. Denise was directed by DBHR to take this out of the budget and plan for now. We put the budgeted money in Media. 4:56 Johnny Next meeting: October 12, 2016, 4:00 – 5:00, CHS Library. Agenda planning: Elect new Executive Committee; Updates on actions taken: Develop new signage in Chimacum to counter the Marijuana signs. Maybe use social norms campaign sayings, changing perceptions around the norm. Need to check out 18.30.150 County Codes for putting up signs Bob said other coalitions have done this, and he will send us ideas. Silvia will join the Environmental Committee. CANS, HY student surveys, approach owners of corner liquor store and marijuana stores. Presentations for community. CPC survey assessment. 5:00 Johnny Adjourn
