Purpose of the meeting: Purpose of the meeting: Approve policy revisions; discuss and assign
work groups: Work on 2017 Media Campaign action plan; Work on 2017 Community Event:
Paper Tigers; Work on 2017 CANS project; Work groups to begin 23-step strategic plan update,
Due June 2017; Discuss member recruitment action plans
Members present: Ron McClung, Martha Aschenfelter (for Chris HoffmanHill), Ciela Meyer, Kris
Becker, Brian MacKenzie, Lyndsay Kellum, Tanya Barnett.

Time/Facilitator Activity
4:05 – 4:30 Ron
Call meeting to order. Minutes approved (Lindsey & Ciela).
Approve policy revision, with minor wording revision. (Brian &
Lyndsey). Discussed volunteers for workgroups and
commitment to the coalition: take away: need more segments
of the community represented here, including marijuana
retailers. Denise needs to update coalition flyer and make
available on JCPH Web site. CANS (Community Assessment
of Neighborhood Stores: Ciela and Denise are working with
students and have stipends available. Need to set date.
Denise is gaining required school district approvals to drive
students in her own vehicle.
4:30 – 5:00
Membership recruitment: Lyndsey suggested we generate a
list of potential members and commit to contacting those
prospects. Kris suggested broader categories, e.g. youth,

recreation, juvenile justice. Ciela suggested Denise look at
similar list generated in the past (perhaps 2 years ago). Media
Strategies: Screenagers will be shown at the Chimacum High
School on Monday, January 23 at 6:30. All are welcome.
Denise will be present representing the Coalition and will
hand out flyers for Strengthening Families at the event. CPC
is hosting screening of UNSLUT at Chimacum High School
Auditorium on Feb. 8, from 6:30 to 8:00. Denise will be on
stage representing Coalition. Paper Tigers is coming along
due to an unexpected partnership with Janette Force at Port
Townsend Film Festival. Look for more information at
February meeting. Parenting Wisely has been utilized due to
a partnership with Dove House and coalition member Teresa
Shiraishi. Congratulations to Denise and Teresa for partnering
on this. Keep promoting Strengthening Families! National
Drug Awareness Week is January 23-27. Denise registered
the Chimacum School Prevention Club members for a live
chat with scientists on Thursday, Jan. 26 at 9:30 AM.

Planning: THE CHIMACUM PREVENTION COALITION February 8th MEETING WILL BE
FROM 4-5 AT JEFFERSON COUNTY LIBRARY, 620 Cedar Avenue, Port Hadlock. Denise will
introduce a newly recruited member, Richard Davies, Jefferson County Defense Attorney and
Drug Court member. Lisa Stewart, Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery will do a
Coalition Orientation meeting in March. Assign work groups to begin strategic plan update;
Member recruitment action plan.
