Approval of Agenda –Mike Evans/Kathleen Kler/All II. Introductions – SAAB members introduced themselves to Sherriff Stanko III. Approval of the May, 2015 minutes – Mike Evans/Anne Dean /All IV. Public Comments/From the Floor/Announcements – None V. Provider Reports Prevention Julia Chimacum Prevention Coalition (CPC) Activities  The Chimacum Prevention Coalition has been awarded a $2000.00 Division of Behavioral Health (DBHR) grant titled “Youth Mental Health First Aid.” The grant will cover the costs for an 8 hour training for community members. Date, location, etc. at this point are still to be determined.  The next Strengthening Families sessions will begin in October, 2015. Registration will begin in September, 2015. Please contact Julia at jdanskin@co.jefferson.wa.us or Kelly at kmatlock@co.jefferson.wa.us with possible referrals.  The next Chimacum Prevention Coalition meeting is tomorrow. The specifics are: When: Wednesday, June 10, 2015 4:00 to 5:00 PM Where: Chimacum High School Library ALL SAAB MEMBERS ARE INVITED TO PARTICIPATE IN ANY AND ALL CHIMACUM PREVENTION COALITION (CPC) EVENTS OR ACTIVITIES Public Health Julia The next Board of Health meeting is scheduled for June 18th, 2015. Sherriff Stanko will be approved for the SAAB at this Board of Health meeting. . 2 Approved August 11th , 2015 County Drug & Alcohol Coordinator Ford Ford reported he is continuing to work towards being prepared for the changes that are anticipated with the development of Behavioral Health Organizations. Continuing to work with Jefferson Mental Health (JMH) to get “ahead of the curve” to make sure Jefferson County residents are taken care of. Ford feels confident these changes will provide opportunities for growth in providing services to Jefferson County residents. Ford is trying to schedule an appointment with Senator Hargrove to discuss concerns with the Regional Support Network (RSN) and BHO’s. Ford feels it is important to let people know that “Jefferson County has a voice.” Believe in Recovery Vince Vince reported he does not have much to report. His numbers continue to be down. He does have a staff member that is scheduled to take the exam for their Chemical Dependency certification. Mental Health Adam Adam reported he has 2 staff making a presentation at Jefferson HealthCare. Five new staff has been hired by JMHS in the past month. JMHS is actively refining the process for patients to be seen and receive services. Adam is applying for numerous grants on behalf of JMHS. VI. Board Goals/Planning Session Members had a discussion about the recent underage drinking incident and the cultural norm of acceptance in our community. Ideas to address these concerns included:  A letter to the editor of the Port Townsend Leader  A perspective submitted to the Port Townsend Leader  A proclamation submitted to the Board of County Commissioners There was a suggestion to review available data from previous years concerning underage drinking that could possibly be used in addressing the issues. Catharine asked if members would like to make a motion to develop a sub-committee to work on developing a draft proclamation, perspective and letter to the editor of the SAAB’s commitment to the prevention of underage drinking and substance use. -Artis/Kathleen Kler/All.
