County Drug & Alcohol Coordinator Ford
Ford reported he is continuing to work towards being prepared for the changes that are
anticipated with the development of Behavioral Health Organizations. Continuing to work
with Jefferson Mental Health (JMH) to get “ahead of the curve” to make sure Jefferson
County residents are taken care of. Ford feels confident these changes will provide
opportunities for growth in providing services to Jefferson County residents. Ford is trying
to schedule an appointment with Senator Hargrove to discuss concerns with the Regional
Support Network (RSN) and BHO’s. Ford feels it is important to let people know that
“Jefferson County has a voice.”
Believe in Recovery Vince
Vince reported he does not have much to report. His numbers continue to be down. He
does have a staff member that is scheduled to take the exam for their Chemical
Dependency certification.
Mental Health Adam
Adam reported he has 2 staff making a presentation at Jefferson HealthCare.
Five new staff has been hired by JMHS in the past month.
JMHS is actively refining the process for patients to be seen and receive services.
Adam is applying for numerous grants on behalf of JMHS.
VI. Board Goals/Planning Session
Members had a discussion about the recent underage drinking incident and the cultural
norm of acceptance in our community. Ideas to address these concerns included:
A letter to the editor of the Port Townsend Leader
A perspective submitted to the Port Townsend Leader
A proclamation submitted to the Board of County Commissioners
There was a suggestion to review available data from previous years concerning
underage drinking that could possibly be used in addressing the issues.
Catharine asked if members would like to make a motion to develop a sub-committee to
work on developing a draft proclamation, perspective and letter to the editor of the SAAB’s
commitment to the prevention of underage drinking and substance use. -Artis/Kathleen
Kler/All. The committee will consist of Adam, Ford, Anne, and Michael.
VII. New Business
