Chimacum Prevention Coalition (CPC) Activities
The Chimacum Prevention Coalition, Jefferson County Public Health and OESD114
sponsored a Youth Mental Health First Aid training on Monday, August 24, 2015. The 8
hour training was well attended and very well received. Julia Danskin and Kelly Matlock
are in the process of planning another training for October 2015. This is tentative due to
funding issues. There is a waiting list from the first training, and those who took the first
training are referring others. More information will be shared if and when this second
training develops.
The next Strengthening Families sessions will begin in October, 2015. Registration will
begin in September, 2015. Please contact Julia at jdanskin@co.jefferson.wa.us or Kelly
at kmatlock@co.jefferson.wa.us with possible referrals. (See attached flyer)
CPC will be conducting its annual Community Survey and Coalition Member Survey
starting on September. The link for the survey will be emailed to the SAAB list serve.

Julia reported Anna McEnery is presenting a resolution to the County Commissioners
called “"Stepping Up: A National Initiative to Reduce the Number of People with Mental
Illnesses in Jails." With support from the U.S. Department of Justice's Bureau of Justice
Assistance and guidance from several national groups dedicated to these issues,
counties across the country are joining a call to action and taking specific, research-
driven actions to reduce the number of people with mental illnesses in county jails.
County Drug & Alcohol Coordinator Ford
Ford reported Safe Harbor has hired a new Chemical Dependency Professional in order
to keep up with the demand for CD services. Safe Harbor will be starting an afternoon
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Currently Safe Harbor has a Youth IOP group, an
AM and PM IOP group, and a Codit IOP group.
Now that Adam Marquis is back from vacation Ford is scheduling meetings with him to

Friday 9:00 – 5:00.
