Approval of Agenda – Mike Evans / Anne Dean / All. II. Introductions SAAB members, staff and guests introduced themselves to each other. Guests stated their interest in attending the SAAB meeting. III. No February minutes to approve. IV. Public Comments/From the Floor/Announcements Sylvia Zimmerman-Blakis stated she was a concerned community member. She has a rental in Chimacum that was recently destroyed by meth using individuals. The impact it has had on her is huge, she lost her home insurance, damage to the home was excessive and she is wondering what is being done in the community to address issues such as these. She would like to help educate the community on the drug issues that are present. Mary Feeney reported the state had denied Jefferson Healthcares request for 1 million dollars in grant funding to add to the 1.5 million that had been awarded. She also reported an increase in the number of individuals with substance use and mental health issues seen at the hospital. The hospital is planning on 3 seclusion rooms to address the needs on these patients. Gabbie Caudill announced Believe in Recovery has hired a 3rd counselor. Catharine Robinson informed the group she would not be able to attend next months meeting. V. Provider Reports Prevention Kelly Chimacum Prevention Coalition (CPC) Activities  CPC is sponsoring Parenting Wisely, an evidence-based online parenting class. It is ready for parents to start. If you know of parents who are interested, please give them one of the Parenting Wisely flyers and/or have them contact Julia Danskin (360- 385-9420 or jdanskin@co.jefferson.wa.us ). The flyer is on the backside. The goal is that 25 families will take the course from January - June 2016 and another 25 from July 2016-Dec. 2016. There is a required pre and posttest. Once a parent/caregiver completes the online class and takes the posttest we will have a $20 gift card for them. 2 Approved May 10, 2016  The winter series for Strengthening Families sessions ended in March. Three families consistently attended. The next round of sessions is being planned for the fall of 2016. If you have any questions about Strengthening Families, you can contact Julia or Kelly (contact information is below) or Tanya Barnett at Jefferson County WSU Extension, 360-379- 5610 x206 or x208 or email her at tanya.barnett@wsu.edu .  For this year CPC’s environmental strategy is to review the Chimacum School District’s alcohol, marijuana, nicotine and other drug policies. Work is proceeding by using Goggle Documents, which is allowing the committee to work collaborative online. If anyone is interested in this process or would like to be a part of this, please talk to Julia or Kelly.  CPC’s remaining spring Public Awareness campaign is:  Monday, May 9, 2016. The Chimacum High School Prevention Club students will discuss some of the prevention and health promoting activities they implemented and participated in this school year. In addition they will give a brief social norms presentation to help explain why it's easy to focus on negative or unhealthy behaviors and why it's so important and beneficial to focus on the positive and healthy behaviors in our youth, our schools, our community and our lives. Julia and Kelly will be giving a brief history of the Chimacum Prevention Coalition’s activities and accomplishments and will discuss plans for the 2016 – 2017 school year.  All SAAB members are invited to attend the next Chimacum Prevention Coalition meeting. County Drug & Alcohol Coordinator Teresa Teresa reported on attending a providers meeting with the Salish Behavioral Health Organization (SBHO) administrator. Numerous concerns were raised by providers about delivery of services, payment for services and non-payment of services being provided. 3 Approved May 10, 2016 Mental Health Adam Jefferson Mental Health will be changing its name to Discovery Behavioral Health officially in July. A ceremony is planned at H. J. Carroll Park to celebrate the event. Recruitment of clinicians continues. A budget has been developed but Adam is unsure if “it is sticking.” We are not sure if the last set of rates are final from SBHO as we have had 5 sets of rates in less than 6 weeks’ time frame. Medicaid expansion continues at Jefferson Mental Health. VI. Sheriff/Police Report Chief Evans reported a substantial increase in the number of homeless people with substance use issues, health issues and co-occurring disorders. He also reported in increase in highly addictive drugs in Jefferson County VII.
