Sylvia Zimmerman-Blakis stated she was a concerned community member. She has a
rental in Chimacum that was recently destroyed by meth using individuals. The impact it
has had on her is huge, she lost her home insurance, damage to the home was
excessive and she is wondering what is being done in the community to address issues
such as these. She would like to help educate the community on the drug issues that are
present.
Mary Feeney reported the state had denied Jefferson Healthcares request for 1 million
dollars in grant funding to add to the 1.5 million that had been awarded. She also
reported an increase in the number of individuals with substance use and mental health
issues seen at the hospital. The hospital is planning on 3 seclusion rooms to address the
needs on these patients.
Gabbie Caudill announced Believe in Recovery has hired a 3rd counselor.
Catharine Robinson informed the group she would not be able to attend next months
meeting.

The winter series for Strengthening Families sessions ended in March. Three
families consistently attended.
The next round of sessions is being planned for the fall of 2016. If you have any
questions about Strengthening Families, you can contact Julia or Kelly (contact
information is below) or Tanya Barnett at Jefferson County WSU Extension, 360-379-
5610 x206 or x208 or email her at tanya.barnett@wsu.edu .
For this year CPC’s environmental strategy is to review the Chimacum School
District’s alcohol, marijuana, nicotine and other drug policies. Work is proceeding by
using Goggle Documents, which is allowing the committee to work collaborative
online. If anyone is interested in this process or would like to be a part of this, please
talk to Julia or Kelly.
CPC’s remaining spring Public Awareness campaign is:
Monday, May 9, 2016.
The Chimacum High School Prevention Club students will discuss some of the
prevention and health promoting activities they implemented and participated in
this school year. In addition they will give a brief social norms presentation to
help explain why it's easy to focus on negative or unhealthy behaviors and why
it's so important and beneficial to focus on the positive and healthy behaviors in
our youth, our schools, our community and our lives.
Julia and Kelly will be giving a brief history of the Chimacum Prevention
Coalition’s activities and accomplishments and will discuss plans for the 2016 –
2017 school year.

Mental Health Adam
Jefferson Mental Health will be changing its name to Discovery Behavioral Health
officially in July. A ceremony is planned at H. J. Carroll Park to celebrate the event.
Recruitment of clinicians continues.
A budget has been developed but Adam is unsure if “it is sticking.” We are not sure if the
last set of rates are final from SBHO as we have had 5 sets of rates in less than 6 weeks’
time frame.
Medicaid expansion continues at Jefferson Mental Health.
