Other ideas on incorporating climate mitigation and adaptation into the day to day work? 7/6/2017 12 Discussion For City and County: UAW How can the CAC best help incorporate climate change into upcoming city and county plans (water management plans, stormwater plans, etc.), and/or building codes? (Part of Govt Leading by Example in CAC work plan) Question of updating the GHG inventory — does the council see a need to do that now? (Current CAC recommendation is to continue to focus on goals/mitigation/adaptation and do update in the future.) Do you want to task the CAC with coming up with a common branding approach for climate action? Discussion For County - Possible 2017 Climate Goals for County: Mitigation (Greenhouse Gas Reduction): Relevant departments (facilities, fleet management, etc.) identify and prioritize top strategies for reducing greenhouse gases in county facilities and vehicles Adaptation (Planning for Climate Impacts): Relevant departments (public works, emergency management, etc. ) review projected climate impacts and identify and prioritize adaptation strategies most relevant to the county 7/6/2017 13 Discussion fflawAoi7 For County - Possible 2017 Climate Goals for County: Policies for Mitigation and Adaptation: Greenhouse gas mitigation policies and goals and climate change preparedness policies and goals are incorporated into Comprehensive Plan update Building codes are evaluated for opportunities to reduce greenhouse gases and to build community resiliency by preparing for climate impacts Checklist: create a checklist to incorporate consideration of adaptation and mitigation into standard operating procedure and policies Discussion ■How can the CAC help you? ■What guidance do you have for the CAC? ■ N ext steps i r OF 7/6/2017 14 Thankyou! 7/6/2017 15
