Statement of Issue:
Rejection of Bids for the Quilcene Solid Waste Drop Box Site - Improvements project.
Analysis/Strategic Goals/ Pro's £t Cons:
This Project supports Jefferson County's Strategic Plan, Goal #6, Adequate Facilities for
work and play. Following revisions to lower costs, this project will be re -bid.
Fiscal Impact/Cost Benefit Analysis:
The Engineer's estimate for this work is $167,000 for Base Bid and Alternate #1, inclusive
of WSST. Bids received were 40% to 46% over the project estimate. This action is in
compliance with RCW 39.04.
Recommendation:
Sign off on the attached document to reject all bids as opened on June 12, 2017.

• The Call for Bids was issued by the Board of County Commissioners on May 15, 2017
• Due notice of the Call for Bids was given as required by law.
• Two sealed bids were received and opened for the Quilcene Solid Waste Drop Box Site —
Improvements, Project Number: 401 594 1984 at the Jefferson County Board of Commissioners
regular meeting on June 12, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. The low bid was 40% over the estimate and the
second bid was 46% over the estimate.
• Public Works recommends that all bids be rejected and that the project be rebid, following revisions
to the Bid Package.
