Purpose Our Transportation infrastructure is extremely important to all aspects of
our lives and includes local roads, State Highways, trails, sidewalks, bike
lanes, parking lots, and transit routes.
The purpose of the Transportation Element is to analyze current conditions
and plan for future use for both motorized and non-motorized vehicles, and
pedestrian travel in coordination with the State Department of
Transportation.

HIGHWAYS AND ARTERIALS
TRG 1.0 Provide a safe, convenient, efficient and integrated multimodal highway and
arterial system for the movement of people and goods, one that is
functionally well maintained, reflects local environment, and meets the
demands of the future.

such as schools, parks, commercial centers, employment and service centers,

driven on same trails, bicycle lanes, and roads as pedaled bicycles. Towards
reduced used of fossil fuels and greater community wellness in a county with
a high median age, expanded use of electric-assist bicycles will be
encouraged. This includes but is not limited to safe siting of E-bicycle
charging stations in public-right-of-ways.

the County Comprehensive Plan Land Use Element and Rural Element which
minimize the need for expanding the road system, and utilize the capacity of
the existing transportation system, including the capacity of transit and non-
motorized modes., and avoid costly expansion of the system.

implementation of a systematic right-of-way acquisition program, by limiting
encroachment of structures or ancillary uses into the right-of-way (e.g.,
setbacks), requiring right-of-way dedication or easements as part of
development approval, and by acquiring right-of-way for future needs
through purchase from willing sellers.

development proponent to mitigate the impact by one of the following:
