Thursday, October 11, 2007
The meeting was called to order at 2:00 p.m. A quorum was present: John Austin, Jamie
Hodgson, Bill Tennent, Debbie Bainbridge. Also present were Bob Huelsdonk, Bill Roney, Dan
Youra, Diane Shostak and John Fischbach. John Fischbach reviewed the Hotel -Motel Lodging
Tax performance from 2003-2007. He noted that in September receipts were up 13.07% for the
month and up 3.28% year-to-date.
The lease arrangements with Pope Resources for the Visitor Center Site were reviewed by John
Fischbach. He noted that in recent conversations with Jon Rose of Pope Resources he was
assured that Pope Resources would amend their lease to ensure the visitor center could remain at
the location for at least 99 years.
A discussion of the relationship between the Tourism Coordinating Council (TCC) and the
Lodging Tax Advisory Committee (LTAC) followed. Bill Roney and Dan Youra participated in
this discussion with Dan presenting an historical perspective. At the conclusion of the discussion
John Austin summarized the discussion by stating that basically LTAC is the oversight committee
and the TCC is the marketing arm of the LTAC. The LTAC will consider and recommend
budgets to the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC).
Discussion then turned to planned improvements to the Gateway Visitor Center and the proposed
budget. Bill Roney reviewed the planned improvements and plan. Discussion also followed on
the longer term improvements needed and the proposed $200,000 budget. Following discussion,
Bill Tennent moved and Jamie Hodgson seconded a motion to approve the $200,000 budget for
planned improvements. The vote was unanimously in favor.
John Fischbach reviewed the requests received to date for the 2008 budget. It was noted that
budgets would be discussed at the next meeting.
The meeting was adjourned at 3:15 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
