HomeMy WebLinkAboutM021610 TCC Minutes, 2-16-10, Draft Madrona Room, WSU Extension Offices Members attending were: Joy Baisch, Lisa Brush as alternate for Mari Phillips, Bill Roney, Kitti deLong and Diane Schostak. Amanda Lovelady and Christina Pivarnik attended via conference call. Miriam Villiard joined the meeting via conference call at 10:45 am. Amanda left approx. 9:45 am. Excused: John Austin, Chuck Russell Unexcused: Frances Rawski, Anna Matsche There was no quorum. The phone system at WSU shut off every 10 minutes, and by the time Miriam joined us, Amanda decided not to continue to call back every time she was cut off. Because there was not quorum, the approval of the minutes and financial reports are moved to the next agenda. Pad Map - Bill Bill is working with Dan Youra on making the necessary changes on the pad map. The current supply of pad maps is depleted. Bill will try to get this done as soon as possible. He hopes to have something for review soon. Lodging List - Bill Everyone needs to review the lodging list. There was discussion about whether to include the lodging list on the Pad Maps. Christina felt we do not need to do a lure brochure. Everyone is comfortable with the Pad Maps. Leader’s Getaway Guide - Christina For $1500 each (County and City) the lodging list can be put in the Getaway Guide. If we don’t put in the lodging guide, Christina will put in an ad that drives people to the website. After discussion, it was decided to put the lodging list in the Getaway Guide for the cost of $1500 to TCC and $1500 to City of PT. olympicpeninsula.com vs olympicpeninsula.org - Diane We will direct people to olympicpeninsula.org during the spring campaign. Spring Campaign - Debbie Black Debbie presented the Spring Campaign via conference call, which will run for eight weeks during April and May. (See attached documents.) The King FM promotion for March is free of charge to us and includes a gift basket, which will be designed around a bicycle trip on the Discovery Trail between Port Townsend, Sequim, and Port Angeles. (As of the transcribing of these minutes, Debbie has two B&B’s that have donated over night stays, and has donations from the two bicycle shops in Port Townsend.) Friday, February 19, is the deadline for this promotion. Discussion about the proposed Dive Presentation video. Discussion about the two people who offered estimates. Debbie stated that she had had a conference call with divers who helped to determine the types of dives and the dive spots to concentrate on for the video spots. Lisa left at 11:30 am. The divers all agreed they wanted to do outreach beyond this area to the western regional of the US. A dive FAM tour may not be a good use of resources at this time if we are going to concentrate on the western US. Debbie has allowed $5,000 for five 60- second spots. We may also have to purchase some stock photos. Discussion about which producer to use. Debbie would like to get a more detailed proposal from John Gussman. Diane thought he probably would not do a more detailed proposal but that his work has always been very high quality. Debbie stated that each diver who plans to contribute photos has asked for full credit for use of the photos. Diane felt that we should concentrate on offering FAM Tours for writers of national or regional magazines and media support. It was generally agreed to have FAM Tours for magazine writers, media support, and some local dive group representatives, as well. ACTION ITEM: Diane, Debbie and John Gussman will have a conversation about how to use the olympicpeninsula.org web site for promotions and give-aways. KING FM Fun Facts: Debbie Black will set Sean MacLean up on a bicycle tour of Jefferson and Clallam Counties for his radio show. KOMO: There will be 24 sixty-second spots. See attachment. Seattle Dining: The April theme is “Seafood Finds.” The May theme is “Mother’s Day.” See attachment. Discussion about promotions in cycling and diving magazines (see attachments). ACTION ITEM: The Undersea Journal has a quick turn around with a March 2 deadline. Diane will work with Debbie on this. It was generally agreed to accept the full proposal. We will use Laurel Black for design. Miriam will not be able to attend the next two meetings. She will be on vacation for two months, Pam Gretsky will be her alternate. Next Meeting; March 9, 2010 in the Madrona Room at WSU Extension Center. Meeting ended at 12:30 pm.
