Then made a contract with Hjelvick family and moved to the upper field at Jackson Cove Road. The cost for infrastructure was a lot, but is an investment for future Shrimpfests and the Hjelvicks. Had about 5,000 people attend. Was a bit “iffy” on shrimp because of various issues. Ran out of shrimp on the first day, though held some shrimp back for Saturday. The Dose State Park was full. Discussion about field kitchen requirements. 11:00 am - Bonnie Story arrived Bonnie informed us as to the things that were really useful for Social Media. Discussion about Social Media and Visit the Dragon; links to add. She needs articles, coupons, info, events, etc.. We want to add info about the culinary loop, birding. Discussion about how using Google Maps to find lodgings is not a good idea. Goodle is all about paid listings, so the paid listings come up first. 11:27 Mary Brelsford joined the meeting via conference phone. OPTC Retreat – General consensus was that the retreat was very good, very productive, and Casey was great. Mary has asked her to participate at the Summit in October. Geocaching: Have a small budget from OPVB to hire someone to help Mary with this. Have several custodians to make caches and will have those in place before the next OPTC meeting on July 11. Discussion about having a cache at Kalaloche Lodge, which is the National Park property, and there is a different protocol for getting permission to have a geocache inside the park boundaries. Mary is researching a way to expedite that piece of this puzzle. Geocaching.com is owned by Groundspeak, and they may know how to get approval with the National Parks. Allison will not be at the OPTC meeting in July or August, and will not be able to attend the TCC meeting in August.
