HomeMy WebLinkAboutM110414 Tourism Coordinating Council – Jefferson County Minutes of the Monthly Meeting of the Board of Directors November 4, 2014 (DRAFT) The November 4, 2014 meeting of the Tourism Coordinating Council (TCC) for CALL TO ORDER Jefferson County, was called to order at 10:17am by Chair Bill Roney, noting a quorum present.  Voting Members present were: Bill Roney, Allison Willing, Jennifer Lampe, Joy Baisch, Larry McKeehan, Marsha Masey  Members Excused: Mike Zimmerman, Walter Kochansky  TCC Friends in attendance: Christina Pivarnik, John Austin, Dan Toepper  TCC Marketing Coordinator present: Steve Shively On motion by Larry McKeehan and seconded by Marsha Masey, TCC unanimously APPROVAL OF approved the minutes from the meeting conducted on October 14, 2014. MINUTES Due to TCC’s early November meeting in respect to Veterans Day, they were unable to review – still to be posted - current general sales tax receipts and motel / hotel lodging tax figures reported from County Auditor’s office. They will be sent out with these minutes. TCC reviewed the transactions of the past month. On motion by Allison Willing, APPROVAL OF Seconded by Larry McKeehan the TCC financials through October were accepted TCC FINANCIALS as received. Motion Carried. TCC reviewed the annual requirement for identifying officers for the Board. ELECTION OF Bill Roney was nominated as Chair, Joy Baisch as Vice Chair and Steve Shively as 2014 TCC Recorder of Record. The slate was approved by a unanimous vote. OFFICERS Christina Pivarnik requested a standing WTA agenda item on TCC, noting that she has assumed the role of WTA representative to the Olympic Peninsula. New Business Olympic Peninsula Tourism Summit was agreed to have been a wonderful success! Numerous TCC members commented on the quality of content as well as great networking opportunities. Bill reported that he was very pleased with TCC’s sponsored information table. John Austin’s County Commissioner reported included highlights on the following COUNTY TCC implications: COMMISSIONERS REPORT  County Lodging Tax meeting for 2015 budget  Ordinance deliberations regarding: Signs, Noise and Vicious Dogs  Memorial Field stadium repair / roof replacement bids TCC honored Commissioner Austin with presentation of “Proclaimed Appreciation” for his years of work on behalf of Jefferson County Tourism. OPVB REPORT Marsha highlighted the following OPVB/OPTC items:  Olympic Peninsula Tourism Summit – recap, review and evals all in process.  Fall Marketing Campaign is on-going and largely in place.  Travel planner events update is due today. Bill reports that he has the TCC contents covered. TCC MARKETING COORDINATORS Steve reviewed his supplied report, going over planning details for the County LTAC REPORTS presentations and on-going details of TCC Fall/Winter ad buys. New Business included: Bill reported on Nov. 14-16 Westend Day’s, with special rates and activities at Kalaloch. Area Updates: AREA UPDATES Quilcene – Larry spoke of the past two years adventure at the Quilcene Museum. Attendance is up 182% and the site is now on the National Registry of Historic Places. North Hood Canal Chamber – Joy noted that visitor count continues strong, up 21% YTD with Dosewallips State Park up 14% this past summer over average. Shrimpfest 2015 is a “Go!” Marrowstone – Allison previewed a full January – MLK Holiday weekend – series of concerts and workshops they’ll be promoting. Port Townsend – Christina announced the PT Holiday season campaign, focusing on five “Sleigh bell Saturdays” full of historic buildings illuminated in holiday lighting NEXT MEETING under the theme “Ring in the Holiday at Victorian Port Townsend!” No TCC December meeting scheduled. Only financial updates as needed. Adjourn There being no further business, the TCC meeting was adjourned at 12:16 pm.
