HomeMy WebLinkAboutM031417 Tourism Coordinating Council Jefferson County Minutes of the Meeting of the Coordinating Council March 14, 2017 The March 14, 2017 meeting of the Tourism Coordinating Council (TCC) for CALL TO ORDER Jefferson County, was called to order at 10:04am by Chair Bill Roney, noting a quorum present. Voting Members present were: Bill Roney, Debbie Wardrop, Joy Baisch, Larry McKeehan TCC friends present: Lorna Mann, Christina Pivarnik TCC Marketing Coordinator present: Steve Shively Minutes from previous meeting were reviewed. Chair Bill Roney, called for approval APPROVAL OF of TCC minutes from the meeting conducted on February 14, 2017. Motion to MINUTES approve by Debbie Wardrop, Seconded by Joy Baisch. Minutes unanimously approved. Steve reviewed the YTD February 2017 financials with TCC. Noting that JeffCo. JeffCo. Lodging Tax revenues 16.8% ahead of budget. spending for early 2017 continues to be expended against budgeted Spring and year-round campaign allocations. Joy Baisch moved and Debbie Wardrop seconded motion for acceptance of presented February 2017 Financial report, Motion passed unanimously. NEW BUSINESS Chair Bill Roney reported that service contracts for continued 2017 TCC marketing coordination have been finalized and signed by Jeff Co. BoCC presentation Steve and Bill, accompanied by some of the Gateway VIC volunteers, will present a tourism briefing for the JeffCo. BoCC on March 27. ON GOING Discussion was shared regarding BUSINESS perception of increased roadside litter throughout our freeways. Including our rural highways. General concern noted that roadway upkeep has fallen off lately. Jefferson Co. Activity Map reprint Chair Bill Roney updated TCC on delivery of Activity Map 2017 reprint. Bill also has supply of Olympic Peninsula Travel Planners. The is an on-going collaboration with PT Leader and currently in the design phase of Jeff. Co. lodging accommodation matrix and corresponding full-page TCC publication. Favorable positioning across from Port Ludlow will provide a visual WTA (Washington Tourism Alliance) Christina Pivarnik shared legislative efforts WTA REPORT and update related to HB1123 / SB5251 bills designed for funding state-wide tourism. Both bills have moved out of their respective committees. SB5827 Concerning definitions and reporting requirements for municipalities receiving lodging tax revenues, co- Legislative District. Critical efforts needed to get HB1123 / SB5251 bills passed was shared. Everyone is encouraged to contact HB1123 co-sponsor Rep. Steve Tharinger and lobby his support of bill passage. TCC Marketing Report - Steve reviewed recent and upcoming TCC marketing work with the Council, TCC highlights included details on: MARKETING red Instagram campaign. Especially the on- COORDINATORS going InstaFAM tour #3 based out of the Port Ludlow Inn. REPORTS tie-in to campaign through Sinclair Media, and related whirlwind FAM tour of STAR 101.5 on-air personality. Busy news includes: Restart of the YP (Young Professionals) program Same as the Gateway VIC, the PT VIC also is tracking low month to date visitors for February. (Aside Debbie observed that Port Ludlow Inn had a good February o the opportunities to take a romantic trip to celebrate). June is National Orca month.
