Jefferson County Public Health http://www.jeffersoncountypublichealth.org/index.php?c-p-c Denise Banker 360-385-9438 dbanker@co.jefferson.wa.us name the executive committee to get the plan approved. The plan was rejected noting we need to be more explicit on how we are going to achieve our goals, who (exactly) is going to do the work, and why we chose these goals. It was noted in the editing comments that our rational often conflicted with our data. In the meantime, Denise is still getting our DEA drug takeback event organized. Some of us will have to volunteer to help at the event. Sunday in Sept., Oct. are our next two Farmers Market dates. August Farmers Market booth was well attended. Film festival sponsorship is secured: we will host “The S- Word” Booth at County Fair in 4-H building was well attended. The purpose of these events (Farmers Market, Film Festival, and County Fair) is name recognition; we want the community to know we’re here and everyone may get involved. 4:30 – 5:00 Developing an Elevator Speech: Denise went over our Mission statement stating this was the “how” of our drive to achieve our Vision, which is the “where we are going,” the “what our community will look like after our mission is achieved.” Denise reviewed prevention domains and strategies, and emphasized these are specifically identified by Centers for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP). They are the domains and strategies our Strategic Plan must address. There are specific Risk and Protective factors associated with these domains and strategies. Bob and Kris helped flesh-out what specifically is meant by risk and protective factors. Our Strategic Plan must identify the risks associated with our data results and explicitly state how we plan to reduce them by promoting activities and programs that increase protective factors explicitly associated with ameliorating these risks. Members discussed the premise of an “elevator speech” and discussed ways to facilitate getting the Strategic Plan approved and yet balance Coalition needs and realities. 5:08 Meeting adjourned.
