Marrowstone is a quiet rural residential community the nature of which would be negatively impacted by this proposed project. There are more suitable areas of the county with industrial or agricultural zoning. Already property values have been impacted: a neighbor lost a sale of his property because the buyer did not want to be next to this project. Lower property values = lower taxes = lower revenues to the county, something I am sure the county is not in favor of. An industrial producer does not pay excise tax so there is no benefit to the community. Furthermore, the definition of “cottage industry” seems to have been changed for this project. This is clearly not a home based business. Nor does it make sense that there is no environmental review (SEPA) for this project. There is no plan to mitigate potential seepage of fertilizer and chemicals from this concentrated source into the island’s sole-source aquifer. Many island residents are dependent on their wells. This project is not appropriate for Marrowstone Island or any rural residential area. Please deny the permits. Steven Grace Marrowstone Island
