Katie Krueger sent out a link to a presentation on the susceptibility of fisheries to climate change, and
how to assess particular marine fisheries and their viability. Rod Fleck gave an update on the steelhead meeting
that was held at the Rainforest Arts Center (RAC); 60-70 people attended and there were some great
presentations. A meeting with Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife is planned, and also the
development of a community-centric regulations proposal. A report will be available at the RAC website. Tami
Pokorny announced that the North Pacific Coast Lead Entity agreed to send in an article for the West End
Natural Resources Newsletter about upcoming projects. Katie suggested an ongoing article or section with a list
of local public meetings and volunteer opportunities. *Rod will consider writing a summary of what the
steelhead meeting has accomplished and where plans are going for the newsletter.

RainFest Update and Planning
NPC MRC 3/15/2016 FINAL Meeting Summary
2
An ad for RainFest will appear in the Forks Forum and the Quileute newspaper; flyers will also be going
up in public locations. Christi Baron and Lissy Andros distributed some RainFest posters. Discussion followed on
waste reduction ideas, such as having people bring their own dishes and silverware to get entered in a drawing.
*Volunteers are needed to staff a promotional table on 4/9/16; Rod Fleck announced some success at the
Thriftway promotional table he hosted. Sarah Tucker is working on the Trashion Show, but local involvement is
needed. Tami Pokorny reviewed the RainFest calendar that was sent out. Ian Miller led discussion on Film Fest
and needs volunteers for ranking films; *John Hunter volunteered. The film Lost and Found about stories of
pieces of tsunami debris will be shown on 4/16/16.
Mycoremediation Update
Jill Silver contacted Fungi Perfecti and told them the NPC MRC would appreciate a guest speaker to
present on the technical aspects that might contribute to her pilot project idea, but has not received a response
yet. Tami Pokorny found out that Fungi Perfecti does not seem to be giving seminars the way they were a few
years ago. Other groups are also doing mycoremediation though, so it may be possible to get involvement from
someone else. The goal of the pilot project is to create training and jobs, adding to the cleanup sites a locally
derived, non-toxic cleanup option.
