HomeMy WebLinkAbout2012-11-28 CAC Agenda Agenda Climate Action Committee (CAC) Wednesday, November 28, 2012, 3:30 - 5:30 PM City Hall Third Floor Conference Room Port Townsend, WA GOALS: Begin to Frame the Action Campaign AGENDA 3:30 p.m. Call to Order 3:35 Approval of Agenda & Minutes (August 22, 2012) 3:40 Guest Speaker: Susan Wood, Padilla Bay Reserve - Skagit Cool Community Campaign swood@padillabay.gov (360) 428-1066 Launched on October 24, 2009 (the International Day of Climate Action), the Skagit Cool Community Campaign is a combined effort by Skagit Beat the Heat, Skagit Climate Stewards, and the Padilla Bay Natl Estuarine Research Reserve to help Skagit folks save money, decrease dependence on foreign oil, and reduce the carbon emissions that affect our climate. So far, participating households have taken actions that resulted in a reduction of 800,000 pounds of CO2 emissions per year. We will learn about their outreach efforts including the Climate Café. This is the event at a local venue where people gather with friends, neighbors or co-workers to learn about the "Low-Carbon Diet," a proven peer-support method. We will ask Susan for tips on how to coordinate a campaign with a multitude of partners on a limited to nonexistent budget! 4:40 Public Comment 4:50 CITY RIF - CAC Elections The City has experienced a reduction in force. City/County staffing of advisory committee’s will be revisited in 2013. CAC needs to elect a chair and vice chair and discuss plans for 2013.
