In the Matter of an Increase to the
Jefferson County Road Property Tax
Levy Above the Rate of Inflation
RESOLUTION NO 138-97
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Jefferson County has
met and considered its budget for the calendar year 1998; and,
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners, in the course of
considering the budget for 1998 has reviewed all sources of revenue and examined
all anticipated expenses and obligations; and,
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners has determined that,
due to increased service demands for County Roads and regulation requirements for
Public Safety, the Board of County Commissioners finds that there is a substantial
need to increase the regular property tax limit factor above the rate of inflation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of County
Commissioners of Jefferson County that the limit factor for the County Road levy for
the calendar year 1998 shall be 106 percent of the highest amount of regular
property taxes that could have been lawfully levied in this taxing district in any year
since 1985.
