Approval of Agenda – Catharine Robinson/John Austin/All II. Introductions - None III. Approval of the May, 2014 minutes - John Austin/Conner Daily/All IV. Public Comments/From the Floor/Announcements - None V. Provider Reports Prevention Kelly Chimacum Prevention Coalition Meeting The Chimacum Prevention Coalition will be having its next meeting tomorrow. Specifics are: When: Wednesday, June 11, 2014 3:00 to 5:00 pm Where: Chimacum High School Library What: CPC will be doing follow up from the Key Leader / Town Hall Meeting, and discussing summer plans. ALL SAAB MEMBERS ARE WELCOME TO ATTEND. CPC Strategic Plan The final Chimacum Prevention Coalition’s Strategic Plan has been submitted. CPC is waiting to hear if the plan has been approved by DBHR. Drug Take Back CPC is exploring the possibility of being involved with the Drug Take Back program with the Jeff. Co. Sheriff’s Department. At this point no plans have been made. Julia Danskin and Kelly Matlock will keep SAAB posted as to future developments. Article on Marijuana in the Everett Herald Julia and Kelly provided an article on Marijuana that was in the Everett herald in the Prevention Report to pose the question “Would SAAB or CPC (or both working together) like to try to have a similar article published locally?” Fran inquired as to what kind of 2 APPROVED July 8th, 2014 assistance CPC is exploring. Conner Daly expressed his interest in being involved in this project. Public Health Julia None County Drug & Alcohol Coordinator Ford Ford reported the Regional Support Network (RSN) is moving to take over managing Chemical Dependency (CD) funding. This could have a serious impact on Safe Harbor's ability to continue to provide services and do business. Ford shared his concerns about Mental Health taking over CD services and stated he feels this could be problematic. John Austin stated he does not believe this would occur either this year or next year. Jefferson County is the only county that has a collaboration between Mental Health and CD services. It is important that Jefferson County Commissioners are aware of RSN issues. Safe Harbor has received incentive payments from Brandeis University for the level of engagement of clients. Thus far Safe Harbor has met the criteria for 2 consecutive quarters and received incentive payments for both quarters. Believe in Recovery Vince None Mental Health Sam Sam Markow announced he has resigned his position as Executive Director of Jefferson Mental Health effective August, 2014. Eric Nye will be replacing Sam at the SAAB meetings. Sam reported there will be some cuts to State funding. Last month JMH owed funds to the RSN and those funds will be pulled from this month's funds. Contracts have to change to facilitate services continuing. Youth Report Mike None. VI. Old Business  Jail Relapse Prevention program Fran Fran reported the Jail RP program started up again on June 1st. Ken Brown and his wife, Linda Pedderson are facilitating the RP program.  Drug Take Back totals Fran Fran reported the Sheriff’s Department took in a total of 32 lbs in April and 22 lbs in May.  Volunteer Opportunities for Youth Garin No Report  Recovery Community Recruitment Ford Ford continues to work on recruitment within the recovery community. 3 APPROVED July 8th, 2014  Candidate Invitation Fran Fran suggested The SAAB invite Sherriff's and Commission's candidates to attend a SAAB meeting after the primary's are over.  DEA Collections Rules Fran Fran reported the DEA has not released their revised collections rules.  Drug Free Workplace Policy Fran/John/Conner/Anne The County does have a Drug Free Workplace policy. John went over the specifics of the policy. Fran suggested Ford and Conner participate in some community awareness. Ford will call and get a date. VII. New Business  Take Away Program Fran provided information on a Take Away Bag program that are used with non- classified drugs. The company that has this program is a Medical Waste Products company. Fran provide the information thinking Conner may be interested in this program for the Port Townsend Police Department. This program will not accept "controlled medications." There is a cost for these bags of $ 99.50 for 50 bags. Conner agreed to look into this program. Artis voiced concerns about potential for postal employees stealing substances in these bags.  Other Fran asked Conner to research police using Nalaxone to counter the effects of Opioid overdose (heroin, morphine, etc.) Ford reported EMT's do carry this drug in aid cars and use it when indicated. Fran reiterated she would like to explore the appropriateness of Police Officers using this when they encounter individuals that have overdosed.
