Meeting Notes (There was not a quorum present at the beginning of the meeting.)

Staff and providers: Julia Danskin, Kelly Matlock, Ford Kessler, Vince Marquis
III. Approval of September, 2014 SAAB meeting minutes (deferred).

V. Provider Reports
Prevention – SAAB members encouraged to take the Chimacum Community Survey, Online link is
https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/CHIXON
Currently there are 3 families (4 parents and 6 kids) attending Strengthening Families Program at Irondale
Church. The sessions started Oct. 9. There is possibly 3 more families that will start the 2nd week of session.
The sessions are every Thursday till November 20th. Chimacum. 4-H volunteers are the facilitators for the
sessions.
Public Health. At the next Board of Health meeting Oct. 16th, we will forward names of 3 new members for
nomination to the SAAB: Ken, Eric, and Anthony.
County Drug and Alcohol Coordinator: Ford described his activities and Safe Harbor’s Treatment services.
Safe Harbor currently has 5 counselors, and 3 administrators. Services include Groups, Out-patient service,
CODIT, about 100 clients/month. Sees Medicaid and private insurance. Ford described the intake process.
About 3-5 assessments/week. There is a new in-patient program in Port Angeles. Safe Harbor will be the
new program in PA more for clients who need in-patient services. Drug Court now has 38 patients, Mental
Health Court 15, Family Therapeutic Court 3 families.
Believe in Recovery: 10 groups a week, 28 patients. Takes private insurance payment and private pay.
Mental Health: New Director, Mr. LeMarquis to start soon. The MH Clinic now has 3 ARNPs starting soon
for prescribing.
Youth Report: There is a severe shortage of officers in the PTPD thus reducing availability of School
Resource Officers
VI. Old Business
1. Jail Relapse No report
2. Drug Take Back not available. No contact reestablished with the jail. DEA did not send requisite
information for a drug take back event in September.
3. Volunteer Opportunities. Mike asked and was told that students would be welcome to the SAAB.
4. Recovery Community Recruitment – NA
5. DEA Collection Rules: New Rules have arrived. Ken Frohning was asked to review them and report back
to SAAB.
VII. New Business
Anthonie Cullen described opportunities in youth outreach
Next meeting will be on December 9th (11/11 is Veterans Day)
