Approval of Agenda –John Austin/Anne Dean/All as amended. II. Introductions – Board member and staff introduced themselves to new member, Ken Frohning III. Approval of the September, 2014 minutes –John Austin/Artis /All IV. Public Comments/From the Floor/Announcements – Artis announced he has started a registered nonprofit organization supporting dual diagnosis addiction programs and free food programs. Information can be found at www.soupspoonfund.org. V. Provider Reports Prevention Kelly Chimacum Prevention Coalition (CPC) Activities CPC will have the monthly meeting on Wednesday, December 10th. Specifics are: When: Wednesday, December 10, 2014 4:00 to 5:00 pm Where: Chimacum High School Library PLEASE NOTE: New start time ALL SAAB MEMBERS ARE WELCOME TO ATTEND. Current activities of the Chimacum Prevention Coalition are:  The first series of the Strengthening Families Program sessions were completed on Thursday,, October 20th. 5 families participated - 6 adults and 8 youth. . It also included: 1. 6 - 4-H volunteer facilitators (a couple of the facilitators are also CPC Coalition Members) 2. 1 volunteer photographer, 3. 1 -4H staff, 4. At least 3 extra younger siblings who were in a “Kid Club” with a Church volunteer 5. Church Secretary who was the site Coordinator who prepared or coordinated food prep. Sometimes additional volunteers helped with food prep. 6. Julia Danskin and Kelly Matlock were present for every session as back-up facilitators and assisted with food prep and clean up. 2 APPROVED January 13, 2015 There was a team debriefing meeting on Thursday, December 4th. The first session was considered to be very successful by facilitators and participants.  The next series of Strengthening Families sessions will be from February 5, 2015 through March 19, 2015. (Please see attached flyer.)  CPC is distributing its annual Community Survey. The Survey data will be used to inform Coalition activities and events, and will be the foundation for an adult Social Norm Campaign for Chimacum. (See handout for information about participating in the Community Survey.)  The next Public Awareness presentations by Chimacum Prevention Coalition will be: Topic: Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES) When: Tuesday, January 13, 2014 Evening, specific times still to be scheduled Where: Chimacum High School Library Presenter: Kristin Schutte from Olympic Educational Service District 114. PLEASE NOTE: This is the same day as the next SAAB Meeting. Public Health Julia The next Board of Health meeting will be December 18th, 2014. . County Drug & Alcohol Coordinator Ford Discussions continue about serious funding changes with combining Mental Health and Substance Abuse services. Ford is working closely with Jefferson Mental Health and Jefferson Public Health during this planning stage. There was a “great” Drug Court graduation last week. It was very emotional for one of the graduating participants. Current and past Drug Court participants presented Scott Rosekrans with a plague expressing their appreciation for his participation on the Drug Court team. Safe Harbor was recently audited by the Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery (DBHR) for Medicaid compliance. The audit went very well as there were no findings or deficiencies found. Believe in Recovery Vince Vince reported his numbers continue to decrease. He has been dealing with 2 recent family deaths. Mental Health Erik Erik reported the new executive director of Jefferson Mental Health (JMH) has been on site for six weeks now and positive changes are apparent. JMH working to deal with the cuts in the Hargrove funding. Erik also reported productive discussions with the new Jefferson County Sherriff and jail staff. Youth Report Mike Mike reported a female youth had recently drank to the point of passing out and reported she had been raped. No problems reported at a recent school function. Number of calls from youth concerning domestic violence issues where parents have mental health and or substance abuse issues is increasing. 3 APPROVED January 13, 2015 VI. Old Business  Jail Relapse Prevention program Ford reported a concern with the male Relapse Prevention group at the jail. The numbers are going down and access to the male inmates is decreasing. Ford to speak to Steve Richmond about his concerns.  Drug Take Back totals Total for the Sherriff’s Department was 44# in September and 49# in October.  Volunteer Opportunities for Youth Mike Mike reported the Cadet program is up and running. There are currently 6 youth enrolled in the Cadet program. Beyond that he reported kids are very active and busy with school activities and do not seem to be looking for volunteer opportunities.  DEA Collections Rules Logistics continue to be explored with the new DEA rulings. In the past pharmacies could not take back medications, but with the changes made in September Pharmacies, hospitals and Medical offices can now take back medications but they must apply with the DEA to do so. Facilities must have devices and polices approved by the DEA.  Quorum data Catharine Catherine reported the data provided by Teresa does not indicate a large number of meetings where no quorum is present. Ford suggested the board have a meeting to discuss goals before deciding whether the meeting schedule should be changed. Members agreed and the January SAAB meeting will be used to discuss the goals of the SAAB. VII. New Business  Teresa reminded members that January is the month that new SAAB officers are elected.
