Approval of Agenda – M/S/A John Austin, Anne Dean, All II. Fran introduced Lois Barnett to the group as the newest SAAB member. III. Approval of the July, 2013 minutes M/S/A John Austin, Arnie Danberg, All IV. Public Comments/From the Floor/Announcements - None V. Provider Reports Prevention Julia Chimacum as the new PRI Site Kelly Matlock has been connecting with community members in Chimacum about the development of the new PRI prevention coalition. The first coalition meeting will be Monday, September 16, 2013 in the Humphrey Room at the Jefferson County Public Library from 4:00 to 5:30 pm. This first meeting will be an introduction to prevention science and an overview of the development and work of this new coalition. All SAAB members are welcome. Public Health Julia Julia confirmed Lois Barnett had received her letter of appointment to the SAAB. County Drug and Alcohol Coordinator Ford None Mental Health Sam Sam reported JMH continues to wait for funding to be restored since last October. JHM staff has left and continue to leave the agency. They will be losing one of their Doctors. Hold up on funding has caused the reserve funding to be “hit heavily.” There is a meeting scheduled with a Kitsap Regional Support Network supervisor. Frontier House (school program) has been restored and funded for the school year. Mental Health Court is going really well. Number of participants continues to increase. 2 APPROVED October 9, 2013 Youth Report Garin No Report VI. Old Business  Jail Relapse Prevention program Fran The program is going well with a slight decrease in the number of men attending. Fran received a report from Pat Wiggins that shows an increase in Methamphetamine use. 17 men and 2 women (age range 24-45) self reported Methamphetamine use as their primary drug.  Drug Take Back totals Fran/Kay Fran reported the Sherriff’s Department took in 44.8 lbs in August. Kay Pownall reported the Port Townsend Police Department took in 21.5 lbs in August.  Volunteer Opportunities for Youth Garin No Report  Friends of Rich Finn Lois Lois reported the Dove House has volunteered to distribute the Friends of Rich Finn (FORF) flyers throughout the County. Lois provided a copy of the flyer as it had been edited and changed since the last meeting.  King County Take Back Ordinance John A presentation to the State Board of Health is scheduled for November.  New Potential Project (s) Discussion Fran Fran asked if members had come up with any ideas for new projects as requested at the last meeting. Lois suggested contacting Marc Weinblatt of the Poetic Justice Theater Ensemble to see if there was an opportunity to create a community awareness/education event through this media.  Printed Educational Pamphlet Opportunity Kelly/Anne Anne reported the material provided at the last meeting was still being reviewed and a recommendation would be made at the next SAAB meeting. VII. New Business Anne announced the Volunteer and Mentoring Fair scheduled for September 28th. She provided information and handouts asking SAAB members and staff to post flyers in the community.
