KPTZ Panel Presentation (same as last month)
The first of the four planned radio presentations has been recorded with KPTZ. The
panel was with First Responders, Garin Williams with the PT Police, Jim Vaughan with
Jefferson Healthcare ER and Anne Dean with SAAB. We are waiting to hear from KPTZ
as to when the program will be aired.
The next presentation will be a parent, a sibling and young person in recovery. Kelly
Matlock has connected with a parent and a sibling who are willing to discuss their
experience with a child and a sibling with a substance abuse issue. Chase Glenn will
connect with a Gray Wolf resident to be the young person in recovery for this
presentation. All of this is still in process.
Project Alert (same as last month)
Project Alert will no longer be facilitated by Jeff. Co Public Health due to funding. Kelly
Matlock is meeting with teachers, counselors and principals from Blue Heron Middle
School and Chimacum Middle School to brainstorm ways that the classes can continue to
be presented. There may be some interesting possibilities.
Protecting You / Protecting Me - new
Greg Peterson had intended to facilitate the 1st through 3rd grade PY/PM this spring, but
he was new to this position this year and he had his hands full with learning all of the
various parts to his job. He is committed to doing not only the 1st through 3rd grade
classes next school year, he has also committed to doing the 4th grade classes next
school year.
Mike Evans and Garin Williams with PT Police presented the 5th grade classes at Blue
Heron in May. JCPH has received wonderful comments on their classes from teachers,
students and parents. Kelli Greenspane with the Sheriff’s Dept. facilitated the classes at
Chimacum Middle School in January and February.

come out of jail are working a recovery program in the community.

See Kelly’s notes under Prevention Report.
3. Drug Take Back Outreach Project Kay/Mike

options to laminate signs for local buses. Anne will contact Peach Stebbins.
4. Follow-up Press Release distribution ideas Fran
Fran requested specific “who and when” from SAAB members on distribution
ideas. Garin Williams suggested flyers for the food bank. Flyers could be
placed in grocery bags when groceries are bagged. Garin to look into schools
receptiveness of putting flyers in school packets sent out to families. Garin
and Anne will work on the specifics.
VII. New Business
Sam provided information on a need for members on The M/H Regional Support Network
board to represent Jefferson County. Each county may have up to 5 members and
Jefferson County currently has only 2. Sam outlined the impact on voting that not having
maximum representation is having. Fran is in the process of applying for one of the
available positions. Sam will send information and forms to SAAB members via email.
Sam requested SAAB members consider applying for a position on this board.
