Approval of Agenda –M/S/A Catharine Robinson/ Ray Hunter/All II. Introductions- None III. Approval of the November, 2011 SAAB meeting minutes M/S/A Catharine Robinson/Tony Hernandez /All IV. Public Comments/From the Floor/Announcements - None V. Provider Reports Kelly Prevention DBHR Prevention Redesign – Cohort 1 (current status - change from last month indicated by italics) The Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery (DBHR) is underway with the Prevention Redesign Initiative (we have been referring to this as “Cohort 1”). For Jefferson County the next step/steps will be a series of trainings by the evidence-based Communities that Care from the UW and DBHR staff for the Jefferson County Community Network (JCCN) Board Members. The first training for the coordinator (Kelly, Julia and Anne will be attending) was Tuesday, October 25th. The Key Leader Orientation has been planned for Thursday, January 26, 2012 from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon at the Quimper Unitarian Universalist Church at 2333 San Juan Ave, PT. All SAAB Board Members are invited to attend the Key Leader Orientation. Attached is an invitation to the Key Leader Orientation training with instructions on how to register. 2 APPROVED January 9, 2012 DBHR Demonstration Grant (new) The Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery (DBHR) has released the application for a small demonstration project grant that is designed to bridge primary health care providers with the prevention community. Anne Dean, Quen Zorrah and Kelly Matlock have an idea for this grant proposal and will be submitting the application on December 21, 2011. Project Alert - No change from last month Protecting You / Protecting Me - No change from last month Public Health- Julia Julia reported the next BOH meeting is scheduled for December 15, 2011. She stated there continues to be concerns about budget cuts to social services across the board. County Drug and Alcohol Coordinator Ford Ford reported the state is considering doing away with the chemical dependency section of DBHR and providing funding to counties directly through block grant funds. Ford stated the logistics of services will become difficult and there will be a loss of federal funding if this change occurs. PT Police Dept Medication Take Back Kay Pownall Kay reported the Port Townsend Police Department took in 2.5 pounds of medication in the month of November and thus far has taken in 3.2 pounds in December. Sheriff’s Dept Medication Take Back Tony No Report VI. Old Business Relapse Prevention Jail Program Fran Fran reported there continues to be 11-13 participants in the Jail Relapse Prevention Education program. Parent Party Patrol Mike/Kelly KPTZ Panel Presentation Kelly Matlock contacted Larry Stein, the Program Manager for KPTZ, about the SAAB idea of a presentation on the impact underage drinking has on kids and families. Larry is very excited about the idea. He would like to start working on it as soon as possible. He believes it should be recorded in the KPTZ studios. He believes that there should be a moderator and no more than 3 speakers. He also believes that there can be more than one of these presentations. He has asked that a Board Member and Kelly Matlock meet with him as soon as possible to set this process in motion. Communities That Care Project No Report. 3 APPROVED January 9, 2012 Drug Take Back Outreach Program Conner spoke to Don’s Pharmacy and they are willing to have a flyer that customers can pick up when they pick up their prescriptions. Conner still needs to talk with Safeway pharmacy. Sherriff Hernandez offered to check with the QFC pharmacy in Port Hadlock about displaying the Drug Take Back information and report to the board next month. Class on Substances Used Today It was decided this class would be developed by Ford and presented in the spring. VII. New Business Ray Hunter has formally requested a hiatus from the board as he will be out of state until the spring of 2012. Letter requesting hiatus was submitted this date.
