View Facility, Room 6 1925 Blaine Street, Port Townsend Meeting Minutes: Board Members Present: John Austin, Conner Daily, Anne Dean, Ray Hunter, Fran Joswick, Catharine Robinson, Board Members Absent:, Laura Blake, Betty Harmon, Tony Hernandez, Mike Blair Staff Present: Julia Danskin, Ford Kessler, Kelly Matlock, Staff Absent: Teresa Wirth Guests: Sam Markow, Executive Director, Jefferson Mental Health Tom Brotherton Michael Evans, Sergeant, PTPD I. Approval of Agenda M/S/A Ray Hunter/John Austin/All II. Introductions – Sam Markow, Executive Director Jefferson Mental Health III. Approval of the March 2010, SAAB meeting minutes Correction: Tom Brotherton removed from “Staff Absent” M/S/A with correction John Austin/Conner Daily/All IV. Public Comments/From the Floor/Announcements--none V. Old Business 1. Status of Relapse Prevention at the jail – Fran o Pat Wiggins reports 10 participants currently o Continues to be a successful program 2. Update on Rx disposal – Conner o Conner will meet with Sheriff Benedict, from Clallam County, to garner his input on their RX disposal program o Conner will give an update next month 3. Collateral cost final draft – Anne o Continuing gathering final numbers and compiling data. Beginning verification process. o Planning to have final draft at May, 2010 SAAB meeting 4. Recidivism Reduction application- Questions and answers regarding the recidivism reduction application and where do we go from here? - Tom APPROVED MAY 11, 2010 Brotherton was available to address questions and concerns from meeting participants. Highlights include: o Reviewed handouts from PowerPoint and grant application (see attached) SAAB will act as advisory board to the grant (required) o Staff will be both at Safe Harbor and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) o JCSO will act as fiscal agent for grant o Grant asks for new software program o Grant creates a case manager position (resource for participants) o When funded, an organizational chart will be created to reflect process o It is believed that 42% of jail population has a diagnosable mental health issue VI. Provider Reports – revisions/corrections Prevention Kelly o No formal report o Please take Our Kids: Our Business information (pins/info), please sign pledge forms here or online Public Health Julia o Poster/Coaster campaign is underway. Good reception from agencies/businesses so far o Board of Health meeting this month will recognize this year’s Public Health Heroes (H1N1 community response team) County Alcohol and Drug Abuse Coordinator Ford o No additional cuts to prevention or treatment from DBHR (state level) o Drug Court Graduation is on Thursday, April 15th at 8:30 am. Two participants will be graduating. VII. New Business o Can we possibly have a Drug Court graduate sit on the SAAB Board? Ford Kessler and Ray Hunter will look into the possibility.
