Approval of Agenda – M/S/A Ray Hunter / Arnie Danberg / All. II. Introductions – None III. Approval of the November, 2010 SAAB meeting minutes – M/S/A Arnie Danberg / Chase Glenn / All IV. Public Comments/From the Floor/Announcements Mike Phimister informed the group that he has not had any contact with Jerry and Peggy Thoutte since they attended last month’s meeting. V. Provider Reports Prevention – Kelly None Public Health- Julia None County Drug and Alcohol Coordinator - Ford Ford reported the Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery (DBHR previously DASA) had conducted an audit on Safe Harbor’s Title XIX (Medicaid) billing and reviewed their contract for compliance. With the exception of finding a few services that were provided and not billed for the agency did well in the audit. The State does not anticipate more budget cuts for substance abuse treatment in the January, 2011 round of budget cuts, although this may change. The next anticipated cuts are scheduled for July, 2011. VI. Old Business Relapse Prevention Jail Program Fran Fran stated the RPG at the jail is “maintaining.” The census remains about the same. Ford Kessler voiced a concern about the jails changing of the clearance procedure creating some difficulty in bring in new community members to participate in this 2 APPROVED January 11, 2011 program. Fran suggest Ford discuss this issue with Sherriff Hernandez or Steve Richards. Drug Take Back Day Update Conner Conner reported that it appears the “last hurdle” has been cleared and a press release is planned for the second week in January, 2011. Develop Goals for Legislative, Communication, Grant, and Policy Sub-committees Fran Fran suggested the sub-committee reports be held over until the January, 2011 meeting with the intent of using a portion of each meeting for the sub-committees to work on goals and objectives. VII. New Business Fran had Sam Markow provide details on a Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) Justice and Mental Health Collaboration Program grant opportunity. Sam informed the group this is a 2 year grant that could provide up to $200,000.00 to enhance the Co-Occurring Disorders Integrated Treatment (CODIT) program. The Justice and Mental Health Collaboration Program seeks to increase public safety through innovative cross-system collaboration for individuals with mental illnesses or co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders who come into contact with the justice system. The Bureau of Justice Assistance is seeking applications that demonstrate a collaborative project between criminal justice and mental health partners from eligible applicants to plan, implement, or expand a justice and mental health collaboration program. Sam informed the group that last year there were 200 proposals submitted for this grant nationally and 62 of them were funded. Sam feels components from the last 2 grant applications could be used in this application and he requested Tom Brotherton be contacted to work on this project. Fran has asked Sam to speak to Tony Hernandez for contact information for Tom Brotherton. The deadline for this proposal is February 3, 2011.
