Geoduck seed will be planted inside of 4" diameter PVC tubes which will be placed in the substrate on private tidelands. Tubes will be covered with mesh caps and only three to five inches will be exposed above substrate. Planting will take place in late spring to mid-fall. Six to twelve months after planting the caps will be removed. Once the caps have been removed area netting will be put down to contain tubes. 18 to 24 months after planting, the tubes will be removed from the beach. Harvesting will begin between four and seven years after planting. The total harvest window from harvested geoduck to final clean up is expected to be one year. Please refer to the Biological Evaluation (BE)for in depth detail on planting, maintenance and harvest methods and timing. 6f. What are the anticipated start and end dates for project construction?
