Share air time and encourage all members to participate DRAFT Meeting Notes January 10, 2018 3:00 to 4:00 pm Chimacum High School Library THE CHIMACUM PREVENTION COALITION JANUARY 10, 2018 MEETING CHIMACUM HIGH SCHOOL LIBRARY, 91 WEST VALLEY ROAD, CHIMACUM, WA PURPOSE OF THE MEETING: Action Plan schedule and community presentation schedule: How to get invited / on agenda to present at local civic, health, business organization, etc. meetings. Facilitators for this meeting: Denise Banker In attendance: Mark Gudger, Ciela Meyer, Bob Wicks, Kris Becker, Senovia Ewers, Rick Doherty, Ron McClung, Kathleen Kler, Chris Hoffman-Hill. Absent: Brian McKenzie, Richard Davis, Sarah Rogers Time/Facilitator Activity 3:00 Denise Call meeting to order; Approve agenda – Kathleen moved, Ciela seconded; motion carried. Minutes of Dec 2017 – Bob moved, Kris seconded, motion carried w/ Kathleen abstained. 3:10 Denise Reviewed Action Plan schedule and dashboard of accomplishments, highlighted collaboration with county Community Health Improvement Project (CHIP) directed by Senovia. Explained update to our Evidenced-Based Program (EBP) goal: this year is development and training for Guiding Good Choices, to be implemented next year, replacing the Strengthening Families program. Denise will be trained and would like suggestions for other potential facilitators. Denise also clarified that she is able to facilitate an in-school EBP. Denise also explained that there are funds for coalition trainings. 3:30 Denise Discussion re: the new coalition brochure and logo. Suggestions include using local places and faces as photos, including a photo of the Prevention Club. Discussion re: changing our name to clarify what we are preventing in Chimacum. 3:45 Denise Shared community presentation schedule and potential audiences. Brainstormed additional audiences. Coalition members asked to join Denise in presenting to groups. Discussed “Prevention Sunday” idea. 3:55 Denise Next meeting agenda focus – See note below 4:05 Adjourn The February 14, 2018 meeting of the Chimacum Prevention Coalition will be held at the Chimacum High School Library from 3:00 to 4:00 PM. Discuss our name, review revised brochure design and photos, plan community presentation schedule and sign up to help develop and/or deliver presentations. Please bring suggestions of where to present and which audiences you have access to. Also think about what kind of training you/we would like as a coalition and bring suggestions of trainings you’re aware of. We are members because we want to help youth avoid the pitfalls of substance use. If you or anyone you know wants to be involved in supporting students in their effort to avoid alcohol and other drugs, please join us. ALCOHOL AND OTHER DRUG PREVENTION IS GOOD WORK.
