Costs for the initial repair were approximately $245,000 plus staff costs. Remaining work, which is included in this grant request, includes minor realignment, paving, striping, guardrail, and "after the fact" federal environment permit consultation. Fiscal Impact/Cost Benefit Analysis: This project is estimated to cost $373,744. A successful Grant application could cover 90% of the project costs. Recommendation: Public Works recommends that the Board authorize submitting the Grant application by signing where indicated and return the signed form Public Works for further processing. DAMAGE, COUNTY RESPONSE, AND DECLARATION Review WAC 136 - 163 for details on eligibility series of rain events beginning in the middle of October and ending the last week of November ;suited in a series of peak flows in the Hoh River. The peak flows resulted in bank erosion and hannel migration that collapsed the east bound lane of Upper Hoh Road into the river and ndermined the westbound lane east of MP 8. The location is adjacent to and just upstream of a milar washout/emergency repair event that occurred in 2007/2008. Olympic National Park was otified and the road was closed (after evacuation of the Hoh Rainforest Visitors Center staff and park isitors) on November 23, 2017. The erosion resulted in a 25 to 30 foot high near vertical river bank at ie centerline of the road and 300 feet of river bank that required reconstruction and stabilization efore the road could be reopened. ederal and state agencies and the Hoh Tribe from whom permits, approvals and/or consultation were the permits and approvals were acquired.
