HomeMy WebLinkAbout020518_ca18Department of Public Works O Consent Agenda Page 1 of 2 Jefferson County Board of Commissioners Agenda Request To: Board of Commissioners Philip Morley, County Administrator From: Monte Reinders, Public Works Director Agenda Date: February 5, 2018 Subject: Request for Solid Waste Advisory Committee member re- appointment Statement of Issue: The appointment of SWAC Alternate Member Chad Young of Olympic Disposal (aka DM Disposal and Murrrey's Olympic Disposal, both Waste Connections companies) expires February 13, 2018. The company's District Manager has indicated a desire to have Mr. Young reappointed to another 2 -year term. The associated e-mail correspondence is attached. Analysis/Strategic Goals/Pro's and Con's: Mr. Young was first appointed to the SWAC in February, 2012 and has remained active in his capacity as alternate to DM Disposal /Murrey's Olympic Disposal manager, currently Chris Giraldes. Mr. Young is in Port Townsend and is knowledgeable regarding residential and commercial trash collection in eastern Jefferson County, in the City of Port Townsend, and operations at the Jefferson County Solid Waste Disposal Facility. The address of record for Mr. Young on the SWAC Membership List is current although not evident in the e-mail correspondence. Fiscal Impact/Cost Benefit Analysis: Local SWAC is mandated by RCW 70.95.165(3) and costs associated with SWAC functions, are budgeted for in the 2018 Solid Waste Budget.
