Analysis/Strategic Goals/Pro's It Con's: The construction contract amount ($150,000) for this project was based on an estimate prepared prior to the end of the flood/washout event. The repairs started November 28 but the limits requiring repair were not definitively known until the water level dropped and the bank erosion ceased on December 1. The length of the bank ultimately requiring repair expanded to 300 feet; this is 130 feet longer than the length used in the initial estimate. Seton Construction has completed their work under this contract and the road has reopened. Public Works recommends authorization of Change Order No 1 which adds $90,885.36 to the Contract. This is necessary to adjust bid item quantities to the work completed. There will be no additional change orders for this construction contract. Fiscal Impact/Cost Benefit Analysis: Cost for this project have been borne by the County Road Fund. Public Works is applying for CRAB Rural Arterial Program (RAP) grant funding to reimburse up to 90% of the costs. Recommendation: Public Works recommends that the Board authorize Change Order No. 1 and return two signed originals to Public Works for further processing. Department Contact: Bruce D.
